Hello! Today, I want to introduce a hidden shopping spot that you must visit if you're traveling to Dangjin or using the West Coast Expressway.
This place is the 'Dangjin Sinpyeong Agricultural Cooperative Local Food Happiness Market' located right next to the Haengdamdo Rest Area!
Exploring local specialties while on your journey is an experience you shouldn't miss.
As soon as you step in, the aroma of freshly harvested produce fills the air, instantly lifting your spirits.
This market allows you to meet truly fresh agricultural products without any distribution markup through direct transactions with producers.
It operates from 9 AM to 7 PM, making it a perfect stop either at the start of your trip or on your way back home.
The first thing that caught my eye was the fresh six-clove garlic and new garlic produced in Dangjin Sinpyeong-myeon!
They were neatly categorized by size: medium, high, and special, with the medium size (about 48-50 cloves) priced at 26,000 KRW, the high size at 28,000 KRW, and the largest special size at 35,000 KRW.
Even before peeling, you can feel the firmness and freshness, making it perfect for seasoning or cooking, which will surely enhance your dining experience.
For rice lovers, there's an unmissable event going on! If you purchase 25-year-old Dangjin Haenaru rice, you receive 500g of brown rice for free.
The Haenaru rice is available at 73,000 KRW for 20kg, 37,000 KRW for 10kg, and 18,000 KRW for 3kg, making it a great deal.
Grown in the sea breeze of Dangjin, this rice shines beautifully when cooked and has an incredible sticky texture.
The store was filled with numerous treasures from Dangjin.
From the renowned 'Haenaru' brand products to fresh apples and Haenaru yellow clay potatoes sold directly by the producers, just looking at them fills your heart with joy.
The snacks were also vibrant and diverse! In particular, the 'Dangjin Haenaru Dried Anchovy Seaweed Snack' completely hit the spot for me.
Made by hand, this crispy snack is delicious and a healthy option without additives, perfect for kids' snacks or a light drink accompaniment for adults.
Priced at 10,000 KRW, I couldn't resist buying a few packs.
The ginger cookies also looked delicious!

At the Haenaru Premium Hall, you can find the excellent agricultural products under the joint brand 'Haenaru', symbolizing the dedication and quality of Dangjin farmers.
Besides the dried anchovy seaweed snack, they also sell lunchbox seaweed and radish greens, making my shopping basket quite heavy.
The friendly staff informed me about the different types of seaweed and recommended some good options.
Even now, I can tell the flavor of the seaweed I bought is exceptional!
They also had HACCP-certified Haengdamdo sesame oil and perilla oil, made from sesame and perilla seeds sourced from cooperative members.
The 250ml sesame oil was 37,500 KRW, and the 180ml perilla oil was 18,000 KRW, with a rich aroma that conveyed the true essence of local products.
There was a separate corner for the sixth industrialization premium products from Chungnam, making it a delightful experience to browse.
They had domestic red beans, delicious roasted peanuts (500g for 14,000 KRW), and roasted black soybeans on sale.
Especially, the roasted black soybeans were on discount: 12 packs for 6,000 KRW instead of the usual 9,000 KRW, making them a great healthy snack to carry around.
Lastly, I couldn't pass by the rice cake corner, which was exuding a delightful aroma!
They had a variety of rice cakes, from chewy and light Mosigae rice cakes to those filled with sesame and mung beans.
The freshly steamed set of 10 Mosigae rice cakes was priced around 7,000 to 8,000 KRW, while frozen rice cakes or gift boxes were available for about 28,000 to 32,000 KRW, making them perfect for gifts.
Freshwater shrimp and frozen snails, both 100% domestically sourced, were also neatly packaged.
