Hidden Cherry Blossom Spot at Shinseong University
Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area saw cherry blossoms in full bloom by the first weekend of April, attracting many visitors.
Cherry blossom enthusiasts hurried to make plans, eager not to miss this fleeting week. This year, it seems that the blooming speed is faster than usual. While there are still surprises with sudden blooms, there are also playful remarks like, 'Aren't they blooming yet!?'
In Chungnam, the blooming speed appears to be quicker than in previous years, but the place I want to introduce today seems to be about a week behind.
Today’s cherry blossom spot is a hidden gem that I’d like to keep to myself: the campus of Shinseong University in Dangjin, Chungnam. It is very close to Seosan and near the famous Yumi-ri, known for its daffodils, making it a great place for combined travel.
The campus and the area in front of the university's main gate are filled with cherry blossoms, making it a hidden cherry blossom destination.
While the cherry blossom spot is noteworthy, the fact that you can enjoy the blossoms on such a beautiful campus already makes it worthwhile. You might find this cherry blossom spot unfamiliar, but if you’re tired of crowds before even enjoying the blossoms, consider visiting Shinseong University. Parking is easy, and there are hardly any crowds, allowing you to enjoy the blossoms in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. There are also forsythias on campus, giving you double the enjoyment.
As of April 5, the cherry blossom bloom rate is about 50%. Although there is a possibility of rain during the week, it is expected not to be a windy day, so the cherry blossoms at Shinseong University should be enjoyable through the second weekend of April. If you're lucky, you might experience the peak bloom right before the cherry blossom rain!
Shinseong University is located in a place that allows for travel to Seosan, as well as to the bustling areas of Dangjin. Why not enjoy the charming buildings on campus and the cherry blossoms while taking a leisurely drive along the local roads?
This year, consider exploring a unique and distinctive cherry blossom spot! Other places, like the Dangjin Hapdeok Reservoir, are also expected to have cherry blossoms blooming around the same time.
