Festivals in Seoul: May 2026

May is a month filled with holidays, and various festivals are held throughout Seoul.
If you're planning a weekend outing or a trip to Seoul, here are some great festivals to check out!
1. Seoul International Garden Expo
Location: 273 Ttukseom-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Seoul Forest area)
Festival Period: May 1 (Fri) - October 27 (Tue), 2026
Operating Hours: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Admission Fee: Free
Parking Information: Seoul Forest Parking Lot (Small/Medium: 200 KRW every 5 minutes, Large: 400 KRW every 5 minutes)
The Seoul International Garden Expo showcases urban gardens that connect Seoul Forest, the Han River, and Seongsu-dong.
How to Get There:
By Subway: Get off at 'Seoul Forest Station' on the Suin-Bundang Line and walk for 4 minutes, or get off at 'Ttukseom Station' on Line 2 and walk for 13 minutes.
This year, 167 gardens will be created in the Seoul Forest area, including a Pokémon-themed garden called 'Pokémon Secret Forest.'
2. Lantern Festival
Location: 99 Jongno, Jongno-gu, Seoul (Heunginjimun - Jongno - Jogyesa Temple)
Festival Period: May 16 (Sat) - May 17 (Sun), 2026
Operating Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (March to May, September to October), 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM (June to August), 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (November to February)
Admission Fee: Free
The Jongno Lantern Festival features a lantern parade that brightens the city center and offers a chance to experience traditional culture.
How to Get There:
By Subway: Get off at 'Jonggak Station' on Line 1 and walk for 8 minutes, or 'Euljiro-1(il) Station' on Line 2 and walk for 17 minutes.
3. Yangjae Art Salon
Location: 261-23 Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul (Waterfront Stage - Yeongdong Bridge 1)
Festival Period: April 3 (Fri) - May 17 (Sun), 2026 (Every Saturday and Sunday)
Admission Fee: Free
Yangjae Art Salon is a cultural festival along the Yangjae Stream, featuring flea markets, performances, and experiential programs.
How to Get There:
By Subway: Get off at 'Yangjae Station' on Line 3 or Shinbundang Line and walk for 15 minutes.
4. Deoksugung Palace Night Stone Hall
Location: 99 Sejong-daero, Jung-gu, Seoul
Festival Period: April 8 (Wed) - May 17 (Sun), 2026
Operating Hours: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM (Closed on Mondays)
Admission Fee: 1,000 KRW for adults and foreigners; free for youth, seniors, disabled, and those wearing hanbok.
Deoksugung Palace Night Stone Hall offers a unique nighttime palace program with guided tours and performances.
5. Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour
Location: 99 Yulgok-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Festival Period: April 16 (Thu) - May 30 (Sat), 2026
Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour allows visitors to enjoy the palace's night view under moonlight.

By Subway: Get off at 'Anguk Station' on Line 3 and walk for 7 minutes.
