Exploring the Wood Culture and Natural History Experience Center in Cheongyang

Today, I would like to introduce a perfect place for this: the Wood Culture and Natural History Experience Center in Cheongyang, Chungcheongnam-do.
Located on the first floor, the center starts with informative exhibits about wood and transitions into experience zones for terrestrial and marine animals. There’s even a wooden kids' café designed for children aged 4 to 7, featuring a wooden playground and block play area, making it a fun and educational experience.
Opened in 2010, the center is well-maintained, showing no signs of age, and offers a clean and pleasant viewing experience.
The center is situated next to the Chilgapsan Reservoir and was established to promote the importance of wood and nature.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of intriguing sculptures that captivate both children and parents alike.
On the second floor, there’s a wooden playground exclusively for children aged 4 to 7, made entirely of wood. The delightful scent of wood fills the air, and with safety supervisors present, parents can relax while their children play.
The corridor leading to the playground is equipped with convenient facilities such as lockers and nursing rooms, ensuring a comfortable visit for families with young children.
Next, we explore the marine animal experience zone, a favorite among children and a popular spot for many visitors.
This area showcases real specimens of mammals, shells, corals, and reptiles, providing a realistic experience. The Doctor Fish experience zone and the nature playground with media art extending up to the second floor add to the excitement.
Hanging from the ceiling is a 9-meter-long Bryde's whale skeleton collected in 2002, marking the first exhibition of its kind in the country, offering a unique sight.
Children can engage in various tactile experiences, including a rubbing experience and playing with fine sand, ensuring that families can spend quality time together without realizing how quickly time passes.
If you visit Cheongyang, consider participating in the stamp tour. By collecting stamps from the Baekje Cultural Experience Museum, the Goun Botanical Garden, and the Chilgapsan Observatory, you can receive a small souvenir.
