Exploring the Retro Winter Wonderland at Sapgyoho Amusement Park

Located by the Sapgyeocheon River, Sapgyoho Amusement Park in Dangjin offers a charming retro winter getaway with views of the West Sea and the West Sea Bridge. While not very large, the park features various attractions such as a Ferris wheel, Viking ship, and carousel, making it enjoyable for both children and adults.
Recently, Sapgyoho Amusement Park has gained popularity as a filming location for various dramas and movies, including the hit series "Seonjae Upgo Twirl." This makes it a must-visit spot in Dangjin.
On the last day of November, transitioning from late autumn to winter, I set out for Sapgyoho Amusement Park with my camera. Although I frequently visit Sapgyeocheon, I had not explored the amusement park itself until now.
Surprisingly, I was taken aback by the number of visitors at the park during the weekend. It’s a popular destination in Dangjin, attracting families, young couples, and groups of friends, thanks to its well-equipped attractions.
The amusement park served as a filming location for the popular drama "Seonjae Upgo Twirl," and you can find photos of the main characters throughout the park. Couples can take fun pictures and feel like the stars of the drama during their visit.
It’s worth noting that Sapgyoho Amusement Park does not offer unlimited ride passes; instead, tickets for individual rides, including the Ferris wheel, are available for purchase. The park welcomes guests from middle school age and does not allow pets on the rides.
Designed for various age groups, the park features play areas suitable for toddlers, making it an excellent destination for parents looking to enjoy the seaside breeze and have fun on the rides with their children.
One of the attractions, the Disco Taga, spins along with the DJ's music, providing a delightful viewing experience even if you choose not to ride.
I noticed many visitors enjoying the park, which I hadn’t realized was such a popular tourist spot. I believe the ongoing drone light shows in Dangjin have contributed to this increase in visitors.
While the drone light show season has ended, it has attracted many tourists, raising the profile of Sapgyeocheon as a destination.
The park was bustling with families, including those with strollers and baby carriers. Watching toddlers ride the attractions brought smiles to many parents.
One of the rides, named Music Express, spins rapidly to the rhythm of music. Although small, it showcases the park's charm and offerings.
I had my first ride on the Ferris wheel, which takes about 14 minutes to complete a full rotation. From the top, you can enjoy stunning views of the amusement park and the West Sea, creating a breathtaking scene.
As seen in the photos, various seafood and sashimi centers are located near the amusement park. Enjoying the rides and then savoring fresh seafood makes for a perfect winter itinerary in Dangjin.
I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of attractions, including bumper cars and a small train that circles the park, as well as a haunted house located inside.
In conclusion, Sapgyoho Amusement Park offers a compact yet fulfilling experience with convenient facilities and delicious food options, making it an ideal retro winter travel destination in Dangjin.
