Goesan's Ojakgyo, a Nighttime Stroll by the Galaxy
During my trip to Goesan, I was captivated by the stunning night view of Ojakgyo, which is so impressive that a single photo cannot capture its beauty.
Located in Dongburi, Goesan-eup, this bridge spans 2.2 meters in width and 244 meters in length, connecting three previously separated walking paths seamlessly.
True to its name, the bridge resembles the mythical Ojakgyo that connects the lovers, making you feel like a character from a story just by walking across it.
While visiting during the day is pleasant, I personally recommend experiencing it at night. The bridge is adorned with tree lights and pathway illuminations, creating a beautiful nightscape.
Underneath the bridge, layers of green, pink, and red lights reflect on the water, creating an illusion of two overlapping Ojakgyo bridges.
As you walk along Ojakgyo, you'll find a transparent section where you can see the water below. The height isn't intimidating, but it adds to the unique walking experience.
I thought it would be nice to bring some snacks and enjoy a picnic while appreciating the night view of Goesan's Ojakgyo, breathing in the fresh air of nature in the city.
The white moon sculpture hanging over the octagonal pavilion, known as 'Dongjin Yeouljeong', serves as a symbolic resting place connecting the three embankments.
The bridge blends into the daily walking paths of the residents rather than standing out as a flashy landmark.
Without large observation decks or skyscrapers, this single bridge transforms the city's landscape, which is truly impressive.
On the bridge, residents and tourists with cameras naturally mingled, taking photos for each other and enjoying this new attraction together.
Moreover, this area where Dongjincheon and Seonghwangcheon meet boasts a clean ecosystem, evidenced by the presence of otters, making the natural surroundings feel even more special under the vibrant lights.
The best time to appreciate the night view of Ojakgyo is about 20-30 minutes after sunset, just before it gets completely dark.
If you plan to visit natural attractions like Hwayanggu and Sanmak Old Road during the day and end your day with a stroll to enjoy the night view of Ojakgyo, it will be a fulfilling trip to Goesan, allowing you to experience both nature and the urban nightscape.
