Exploring the Mulbit Complex Cultural Center in Nonsan

One of the main tourist attractions in Nonsan City is the Mulbit Complex Cultural Center.
This center opened in June 2025.
The reason Nonsan City established the Mulbit Complex Cultural Center is to create a multifaceted hub that combines nature, culture, and tourism, providing healing and cultural inspiration to both citizens and visitors.
It aims to simultaneously boost the local economy and elevate the city as a cultural destination. Nearly a year after its opening, the center has received great acclaim for its diverse exhibitions and cultural activities.
The Mulbit Complex Cultural Center operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 AM to 7 PM, and is closed on Mondays. Major facilities include creative studios, seminar rooms, and lounges on the first floor, exhibition halls on the second floor, and a small library and community room on the third floor. For those interested in renting spaces like the seminar and exhibition halls, please contact the Cultural Arts Department.
Today, I visited the Mulbit Complex Cultural Center to see the exhibition titled <2026>, which features the photography of Lee Gap-jae.
From April 30 to May 31, a photography exhibition titled is being held.
I previously introduced Lee Gap-jae as the eighth artist in a special feature of the Chungnam Provincial Government Newspaper titled .
This connection led me to attend the exhibition .
In the artist's note for the exhibition, Lee states, "Footprints are not just simple traces. They are records of the paths traveled and promises of the paths to come. The footprints left in the salt fields represent a moment where the fading past and the open future coexist."
The first piece of the exhibition evokes deep reflection and contemplation, as the footprints symbolize traces of existence and awaken human memories.
Through the transformation of nature and human traces into art, this photograph embodies Lee Gap-jae's philosophy of 'turning moments into eternity.'
The charm of black and white photography lies in revealing essence through light and shadow, devoid of color. Lee captures natural traces like rocks, footprints, and wind in black and white, inviting viewers to reflect on the meanings of life and time.
All the works in this exhibition were shot in the salt fields, showcasing the footprints of salt workers, traces of time created by salt, and metaphysical subjects that metaphorically represent human existence and life trajectories.
After viewing the exhibition, I took a moment to explore the small library and community room, both of which are freely accessible spaces specializing in arts like music and visual arts.
As I sat with a book, I enjoyed the view of Tappjeong Lake outside the window, often lost in thought between reading and admiring the scenery.
As spring deepens, more visitors are flocking to Tappjeong Lake. The walking path starting from the Tappjeong Suspension Bridge to the music fountain is attractive in itself, but pausing at the Mulbit Complex Cultural Center to enjoy an exhibition or read in the library offers a special experience.
If you visit Tappjeong Lake, I encourage you not just to enjoy the scenery but also to experience the Mulbit Complex Cultural Center and its small spaces.
The beauty of the lake and the impact of art will make your spring day feel even more radiant.
