Weekend Travel Destination in Jinju with Kids

LH Land and Housing Museum

This weekend, with the rain pouring down, we visited the LH Land and Housing Museum in Jinju, a great indoor destination. There were many exhibits to see, and a new special exhibition had just opened.

There is a dedicated parking lot where we could park for free. However, on weekdays, there is a car restriction based on the last digit of your vehicle's license plate:

  • Monday - 1, 6
  • Tuesday - 2, 7
  • Wednesday - 3, 8
  • Thursday - 4, 9
  • Friday - 5, 0

It's important to check which day your vehicle corresponds to.

There are also electric vehicle charging stations, making it convenient to charge your car while enjoying the exhibits.

The first thing that greeted me was the azalea flowers blooming all around, which was quite healing to see. In areas where people couldn’t go, ducks were welcoming visitors.

If it hadn’t rained, we could have enjoyed the flowers even more, which was a bit disappointing.

Next to the azaleas, there were yellow flowers blooming as well. My daughter was crouching down, blowing dandelion seeds, and the scene was incredibly beautiful.

The LH Land and Housing Museum not only has a lovely park but also well-maintained walking paths, making it a great outing for families with children.

Another advantage is that you can freely rent bicycles to ride around the park within the museum.

Due to the rain, we couldn’t ride bikes, which was a bit of a letdown. We promised to visit again on a sunny day and headed toward the entrance. There was a banner at the entrance announcing a special exhibition titled "Cement by Our Side, and We by Cement" running until May 8, 2026.

The museum operates daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, but it will be closed on public holidays like Labor Day (May 1), Children's Day (May 5), Buddha's Birthday (May 24), and the substitute holiday for Buddha's Birthday (May 25).

Upon entering the museum, we were greeted by a beaver. Inside, it’s important to remain quiet and not run. There was a lit pathway with signs, making it easy to navigate.

On the left side of the first floor, we saw the exhibition "Life Resembling a Home, A Home Capturing Life," showcasing donated photographs by Hwang Heon-man.

These photographs captured scenes from the Joseon Dynasty, which my daughter found fascinating. She asked, "Was our country really like this?" She was particularly intrigued by the traditional thatched houses. I explained that while we now have modern toilets, in the past, people used a different method, which left her puzzled.

The exhibition pieces were also available in a book format, which is worth checking out.

Next, we headed to the second floor where the main exhibition hall is located. We could even experience being inside a traditional cave house with a fire.

As we moved to the next exhibition, we encountered a grand traditional house, beautifully decorated with various items, making it a great spot for photos.

We enjoyed the exhibition titled "Cement by Our Side, and We by Cement," which was also open until May 8.

We took photos at the photo zone and learned about the cement-making process. I explained to my daughter that our house was also made of cement.

We listened to the stories of the hard work of cement factory workers through headsets, gaining insight into their challenging conditions.

After the experience, I asked my daughter what cement is. She replied, "Cement is a precious shelter." It made me realize how familiar yet misunderstood cement is in our lives.

How about visiting the LH Land and Housing Museum in Jinju with your family next weekend? You can enjoy sunbathing in the park, ride bicycles, and view the exhibitions for free! It was a very enriching experience.
