There are days when you want to escape the dazzling and noisy skyscrapers of the city and focus solely on the sounds of nature. During the season when greenery deepens, a tranquil walk that allows you to listen to the refreshing sounds of water can provide a deeper sense of rest than a grand travel plan.

The Gu-ryong Valley course in Jirisan National Park, located in Juchun-myeon, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do, is a hidden wellness spot that offers a perfect pause from the fatigue of daily life. The beautiful landscapes and unique rock formations, coupled with the legendary tale of nine dragons ascending to the sky, enhance the joy of walking along the path.

One of the major advantages of this place is that both entrance and parking fees are completely free, allowing visitors to leave with light wallets and return with full hearts. Open year-round without any charge, it eases the burden of weekend outings while offering the majestic beauty of the national park without any cost.

Especially, the starting point of the journey, the 'Gu-ryong Public Parking Lot', operates entirely free of charge. Parking near Yukmojeong is limited and poses a high risk of contact accidents, so it's wiser to park in the spacious and comfortable public parking area and warm up by walking up the wooden stairs.

As you enter the forest through the Gu-ryong Exploration Support Center, a premium trekking experience of approximately 3.1 km begins. The first 2.2 km section leading to Bi-bok-dong consists of gentle and flat dirt paths, making it easy to fully immerse in the forest. The dense trees provide shade, keeping you cool throughout the walk.

While walking, you will encounter unique rocks that reflect local dialects and legends, such as 'Gu-siso', resembling a livestock feeding bowl, and 'Yuseondae', a flat rock said to be where deities played Go. Sitting on Yuseondae to cool off is a great way to appreciate the narratives of nature.

As you move deeper along the forest path, you will come across 'Jiju-dae', the sixth point of Gu-ryong Valley. The massive rock cliffs surrounding it create an overwhelming sight, as if they are precariously supporting the sky, providing hikers with a thrilling visual catharsis.

After passing through safe deck roads laid out at risky sections, you will reach the 'Bi-bok-dong' resting area, the seventh point. Enjoying a sip of clean water while feeling the cool mountain breeze is a perfect wellness buffer that refreshes your mind for further exploration.

The latter 0.9 km section leading to the destination becomes steeper and rougher. However, sturdy wooden and metal deck stairs ensure safety, allowing anyone to continue their hike confidently with careful steps.

As you climb the steep stairs, a breathtaking panorama unfolds before your eyes. This open view, rarely seen on valley trekking routes, is the highlight of the journey, offering a stunning landscape gifted by the great nature of Jirisan.
