Exploring the Cheonan Town Hall Observatory

Did you know there is a free observatory in Cheonan where you can take a break while enjoying the night view?

The Town Hall Observatory is even more delightful as it offers free parking. When I visited during the day, I was impressed by the expansive view of Cheonan city from the 47th floor. This time, I returned in the evening and experienced a completely different atmosphere.

As the lights of downtown Cheonan began to twinkle outside, I could also enjoy media art videos inside, creating a unique blend of night view and cultural experience. The fireworks video, in particular, felt as if real fireworks were bursting in the night sky, leaving a lasting impression.

The greatest charm of the Cheonan Town Hall Observatory is the view from its 47th floor. During the day, the expansive view of roads, buildings, and distant landscapes was refreshing.
Upon my evening visit, the atmosphere was entirely different. As the sun set and the sky darkened, the lights of the roads and buildings flickered on, transforming the view of downtown Cheonan into a sparkling night scene.
▲ The skywalk offers great photo opportunities
The entire structure features large windows, providing unobstructed views from any spot. Sitting by the window and gazing at the night view of Cheonan felt like a mini getaway without traveling far. Personally, I found the skywalk area perfect for photography, as there were no reflections that would hinder capturing the night view.

The most memorable part of this visit was the media art. Inside the observatory, videos were being screened, and the fireworks video stood out the most.
The continuous bursts of fireworks in the dark space created an illusion of witnessing real fireworks in the night sky.
With the night view of downtown Cheonan outside and the fireworks media art inside, the experience felt entirely different from my daytime visit.
It’s not just a place to enjoy the view; you can also appreciate the night scenery and media art, making me personally recommend visiting in the evening for a more captivating experience.
▲ Artworks available at the Town Hall Observatory
In addition to the views, there are also paintings displayed along the walls inside the observatory.
Looking out at downtown Cheonan through the large windows while strolling slowly indoors gives a gallery-like atmosphere. While it felt bright and sunny during the day, the evening ambiance was calmer with the addition of lighting and night views.
The observatory, café, and exhibition space are all combined in one place, making it easy to lose track of time. Enjoying a cup of coffee while admiring the artworks and then returning to the window to take in the night view was a lovely flow.
▲ Skywalk at the Town Hall Observatory
The Town Hall Observatory also features a skywalk with a glass floor. The view straight down can be a bit dizzying, so those afraid of heights might hesitate momentarily, but it's worth experiencing at least once.
▲ Sky garden outside the Town Hall Observatory
There is also a sky garden outside the observatory, providing a small urban retreat. It’s a nice spot to sit and relax after enjoying the night view.
▲ Underground parking lot of the Dongnam District Office
When visiting the Town Hall Observatory, you can use the parking lots of Hills State Cheonan or the Dongnam District Office. The Hills State parking lot is conveniently connected to the building.
After parking, just follow the directional arrows. It might be a bit confusing on your first visit, but following the signs makes it easy to reach the observatory building.

The Town Hall Observatory is a free 47th-floor observatory accessible to everyone. During the day, you can enjoy the open view of Cheonan city, and in the evening, the sparkling night view combined with media art creates a different atmosphere.
This visit was particularly memorable for the fireworks video, which felt lively, and experiencing it alongside the night view made it even more special.
If you're looking for places to visit or date courses in Cheonan, consider stopping by the Town Hall Observatory. Personally, I recommend visiting before sunset to enjoy the sunset first, followed by the night view and media art.
