The Seoraksan Mountains in March still cling to the remnants of winter, making the air quite chilly, but this also means clear skies and excellent visibility.

Without the need for heavy hiking gear, you can easily reach a spot atop the unique rock formations of Seoraksan, overlooking the city of Sokcho.

We introduce the scenic Gwongeumseong Fortress, where you can comfortably ride a cable car and capture special photographs along the rugged ridges.

Five-Minute Aerial Walk

The cable car reaches the Gwongeumseong station at an elevation of 700 meters in just five minutes.

As you ascend, the majestic Ulsan Rock and the cascading Towangseong Waterfall come into view, leaving no room for boredom.

Although the mountains are still mostly colorless in March, the stark branches highlight the massive rock formations even more clearly.

The ride is stable and comfortable, making it relatively easy for those with a fear of heights to enjoy the experience.

Gentle Deck Path

From the upper station to the summit of the beacon, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot.

The majority of the path is well-maintained with wooden decks and stairs, so you can walk without hiking boots.

While there may still be some snow in shaded areas along the mountain paths in March, the anti-slip facilities ensure safety.

As you catch your breath, you will soon arrive at the entrance of the summit with an expansive view.

Rugged Rock Ridge

The summit area, known as Bongwadae, is composed entirely of massive rocks without soil or trees, creating an exotic atmosphere.

This natural rocky expanse lacks fencing, allowing for a breathtaking backdrop from anywhere you stand.

Be cautious of the rough rock surfaces to avoid slipping, but they offer great opportunities for dynamic photography.

Since there are no trees to shield you from the wind at the summit, make sure to dress warmly against the chilly March breeze.

Sokcho City and the East Sea

Standing at the edge of the summit, the panoramic view of Sokcho city and the blue East Sea unfolds before you.

On clear days, the boundary between the sky and the sea becomes distinctly visible, providing a refreshing sensation.

On the opposite side, the majestic ridges of Naeseorak stack up, offering a perfect spot to admire both the sea and the mountains.

Visiting on a day without fine dust allows you to enjoy even clearer and more vibrant scenery.
