Hello!

I am the traveling influencer, Traveling Little Prince.
When choosing a winter travel destination,
the snowy landscapes filled with winter vibes are wonderful,
but I often look for places where I can enjoy comfortably indoors.
This time, I visited Byeolmaro Observatory in Yeongwol, Gangwon-do,
which is perfect for an indoor date.
Even in the harsh cold of winter, you can enjoy celestial observations and
various exhibitions indoors, making it a great recommendation for winter dates.
Byeolmaro Observatory
Address: 397, Cheongmundae-gil, Yeongwol-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do
Reservations and Shuttle Bus
Byeolmaro Observatory operates on a reservation basis,
so please be sure to complete your reservation before visiting.
Admission Fees:
Adults - 7,000 KRW
Youth - 6,000 KRW
Children - 5,000 KRW
Byeolmaro Observatory is a must-visit in Yeongwol,
but personal vehicle access is restricted, and you must use the shuttle bus.
After purchasing tickets online at the ticket office,
you can board the shuttle bus at the nearby platform.
As you ride the shuttle for about 20 minutes,
the observatory's exterior comes into view.
Once you get off the shuttle, the fresh air at the summit greets you.
The cold winter wind brushes your face,
and the high altitude makes the air feel much clearer.
The observatory tour starts with free viewing, followed by the underground projection room and then the 4th-floor observation room.
The multimedia presentations like 'The Gap of Chaos' and 'The Waves of Nox' are captivating.
The light and patterns enveloping the space seem to embody the energy of the universe and the night sky.
The immersion is much greater than in photos,
making it easy to get lost in the atmosphere.
The planetarium features a dome structure that naturally directs your gaze upward.
As you enter, the soft lighting and calm ambiance leave a lasting impression.
As soon as you sit down, the ceiling fills with stars,
giving you the sensation of gazing at the universe from a small theater.
The virtual night sky on the 8.3m dome screen can represent over 9,500 stars,
and the dense constellations create an overwhelming experience.
The paths of celestial bodies feel as if you are standing under the actual night sky,
and the instructor's explanations make it easy to understand.
After the observation, you can relax in 'Dorothy's Star' on the 3rd floor,
where the atmosphere changes with music and light.
After finishing the tour, I stopped by CAFE 799 on the 3rd floor,
which is a nice place to take a break after the program.
Byeolmaro Observatory offers solid programs,
making it a space enjoyable for dates and family trips alike.
If you're considering a travel route on a cold day,
I highly recommend Byeolmaro Observatory in Yeongwol.
