Experience the Romance of a Train Journey Near Seoul: Romantic Starlight Train in Yangju
Following up on our previous post, I'll continue to share my experience on the Gyooe Line 'Starlight Train'!
1️⃣ What is the 'Starlight Train'?✨
The 'Starlight Train' is a unique train journey that departs from Uijeongbu Station on the Gyooe Line (Mugunghwa train) during designated evening hours (operated 1-2 times a month, tentatively on 2025-09-27 (Sat), 2025-10-18 (Sat), 2025-11-11 (Tue), 2025-11-22 (Sat), 2025-12-24 (Wed)). You can enjoy a live performance and a picnic set inside the train while traveling round trip back to Uijeongbu Station!

2️⃣ What are the operating hours of the 'Starlight Train', and how do I make a reservation?
The operating hours are from 18:20 departure from Uijeongbu Station to 20:47 arrival at Uijeongbu Station. For more details and reservations, please click the links below!

In the previous post, I introduced the boarding process, seating, and snacks. In this post, I'll share more about the programs that take place while the train is running!
3️⃣ What kind of performances are held on the train? Is it possible to request songs?
The basic performance concept of the 'Starlight Train' is a '7080 Live Concert'.
If you fill out the song request form included in the snack box provided upon boarding and submit it to the staff, the singer will perform your requested song if possible!
(They even added Hwang Ga-ram's 'I am a Firefly' to the setlist, showing consideration for all passengers to enjoy!)
The atmosphere on the train can vary greatly depending on the song requests and the participation of the passengers.
On the day I boarded, the energy of the participants was amazing, and there was even a unique scene where a participant grabbed the microphone and sang!
It felt like being at a real concert!
If you take the train along the Gyooe Line, you can enjoy the scenery of mountains and fields even near Seoul!
Enjoy the scenery outside the window with a live performance!
The 7080 live performance created an atmosphere where everyone could sing along, transcending generations. The train car transformed into a small concert hall, and the passengers enjoyed the moment with a glass of wine.
4️⃣ Is there a break during the 'Starlight Train' journey?
After enjoying the performance for about 50 minutes, you'll arrive at the turning point!
Here, you'll have a short break of about 10 minutes.
Uijeongbu Station was the turning point at the time. There's also a cute sign here indicating the Gyooe Line boarding area and ticket purchase location!
Gyooe Line Mugunghwa train temporarily stopped. Many people were taking commemorative photos in front of the train at this time. (If you ask the Korea Rail Tourism Development staff, they will take amazing photos for you!)
On the way back to the departure station, the singer's performance and readings of requested stories continued, maintaining the atmosphere!
Listening to popular songs from the 1970s and 80s, including folk and ballads, with live performances and vocals, it felt like a small '7080 live cafe' had been moved into the train.
The singer also read the requested stories in a nice voice, allowing you to convey a message to the person next to you in a special way, creating unique memories! (There were stories of various genres, including touching and hilarious ones.)

The couple of hours spent on the Romantic Starlight Train in Yangju will be remembered as a moment when the two keywords 'memories' and 'travel' perfectly aligned!
