Exciting Summer Fun at Cheongju Korean Sericulture Museum

As summer approaches, the water play area at the Cheongju Korean Sericulture Museum has opened its doors.
The Sericulture Museum was established to collect and preserve the cultural heritage and artifacts related to sericulture from across the country.
In addition to exhibition facilities, the museum offers experiential activities for children, and during the summer, a refreshing water play area is available.
This year, the water play area is open again for the summer, and I’m excited to share the latest updates!
The Sericulture Museum has a spacious site. Parking is available in front of the museum, and visitors can purchase tickets at the entrance and enter after putting on a wristband.
While on-site payment is possible, booking online in advance can save you money.
The water play area is divided by depth. The deepest section reaches about thigh-high for adults, making it enjoyable for families with children.
Operating hours for the water play area are from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. For safety, there is a 10-minute check-up after every 50 minutes of use, so please adhere to the schedule.
The area with slides is shallower, and each water play section is equipped with sunshades for a cooler experience.
There are various facilities around the water play area, making it fun to explore different spots. There is also a shallow water play area suitable for toddlers, making it a great visit for families with young children.
The museum offers a water sledding area and a rail sledding area. For the rail sled, you can use the provided tube, while for the water sled, you need to bring your own tube.
There are resting areas with numbered mats available for rent, and prices vary based on location and amenities.
If you prefer a special space, you can rent a hut equipped with tables and chairs for a more comfortable seating arrangement.
Cooking is allowed at the mats, and enjoying grilled meat after swimming is a delightful experience.
If packing is inconvenient, you can rent a barbecue set that includes marinated pork belly, but reservations must be made at least a day in advance.
Feeling hungry after playing in the water? The snack bar offers a variety of food options, including cold noodles, udon, yogurt smoothies, cup noodles, and hot dogs, perfect for enjoying while playing.
Let me introduce some great facilities to explore while having fun in the water.
Inside the main building, you can enjoy exhibitions and various experiential activities.
The exhibition hall is divided into two floors, showcasing stories about sericulture culture.
Visitors can learn about silk and see various silk garments, including the emperor's robes worn by the last emperor of the Joseon Dynasty, Gojong.
The museum also features weaving equipment and exhibits on the silk-making process.
The outdoor area has mulberry trees, and you can participate in making experiences using mulberries.
There are many fun activities available for children and families, including indoor play facilities and animal feeding experiences with cute animals.
The Cheongju Korean Sericulture Museum is a wonderful place to enjoy water play and cooking together!
- The water play area is open until August 30, 2026.
- On weekdays, only the museum operates (water play area, kids' cafe, and sledding area are closed).
- From July 27 to August 9, all facilities will be operating on weekdays.
Enjoy a summer full of fun at the Sericulture Museum!
