Ensuring Safety for Farmers During the Summer Heat

Hello from Sinan County! π
As the summer heat intensifies,
the health and safety of farmers
become increasingly important.
To prevent heat-related illnesses
and create a safe working environment,
Sinan County is implementing
field-centered education and promotional activities.
This initiative will target over 1,200 farmers
during the peak summer heat period,
focusing on protecting the health of
vulnerable farmers and preventing safety accidents
that may occur during agricultural work.
We have selected eight leading farmers
from the Sinan County Improvement Association
who have completed safety training
to serve as heat illness prevention personnel.
They will visit community centers and farms
to provide guidance on
heat illness prevention measures,
tick-borne disease prevention,
and emergency response techniques.
Additionally, we will promote the
Five Safety Rules for Farmers
in conjunction with the Farmer Safety 365 campaign.
We will also distribute heat response supplies
such as self-check materials for heat illness
and cooling sleeves.
During the summer, the risk of heat-related illnesses
increases due to high temperatures and strong sunlight.
Therefore, staying hydrated and taking breaks
are crucial.
Sinan County will continue to prioritize
the safety of farmers
and will maintain ongoing, field-based education
and promotion efforts.
We encourage all farmers
to pay special attention to health management
during the hot weather,
comply with safety rules,
and continue healthy agricultural activities.
Practical Guidelines for Preventing Heat Illness:
β Drink water frequently
β Take adequate breaks
β Wear protective gear such as hats and cooling sleeves
β Avoid working during the hottest times of the day
β Check your health status before and after work
