Experience the stunning spring at the Samsan Mountain Arboretum in Dangjin.

Last weekend, the arboretum was a dazzling display of spring flowers, including cherry blossoms, flower turf, daffodils, and rock maple, all blooming simultaneously.

The flower paths extend from the ecological pond through the greenhouse and cloud bridge, leading up to the ridgeline and forest trails of Samsan Mountain.

If you're visiting for the first time, be sure to grab a map available at the entrance of the arboretum, located at an elevation of 108 meters in Godeam-myeon, Dangjin, where over 1,160 plant species thrive.

In spring, cherry blossoms bloom; in summer, hydrangeas; in autumn, maple leaves; and in winter, the snow-covered landscapes are beautiful.

Throughout the seasons, various flowers bloom and fade, with the clay paths stretching along the ridges.

The arboretum features ten facilities, including the ecological pond, wildflower meadow, and various themed gardens such as the hydrangea garden, rock garden, and maple garden, totaling 23 exhibition areas.

During the second week of April, the entrance of the arboretum was adorned with vibrant flower turf, and cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

The Samsan Mountain Arboretum offers numerous attractions and diverse course options for visitors.

The circular trail begins with the ecological pond and the Kids' Dream Forest.

Families with children will head towards the Kids' Dream Forest playground while general visitors often pass through the ecological pond.

The ecological pond course features a gentle uphill path from the entrance to the rock garden, connecting to various themed gardens along the ridgeline.

The complete loop takes about 1.5 hours, but with the ups and downs, you may find yourself enjoying the scenery for over two hours.

In April, the spring flowers at Samsan Mountain Arboretum begin with the cherry blossom path at the ecological pond, leading to daffodils, rock maple, and muskari.

With over 1,000 trees and flowers, there is always something to see no matter the season, with blooming starting in April and continuing into late autumn.

Yellow daffodils and the wildflower rock maple, which blooms white, along with purple muskari, create a vibrant atmosphere.

The once dull winter forest transforms as it approaches mid-April.

Pines grow greener with the rising moisture, and the coniferous forest begins to sprout fresh leaves, creating a refreshing green atmosphere.

Amidst this, the fully bloomed camellias catch the eye, blooming vibrantly among the green leaves along the thematic garden boundaries.

Each plant in the arboretum is labeled with its characteristics. The camellia, an evergreen shrub, mainly grows in the southern regions, blooming red flowers from January to March. Although it is known to be less cold-resistant, it thrives in coastal and saline environments, and here, it blooms in April under central region conditions.

Surrounding the visitor center with the Sky Forest Trail is a wave of deep pink flowers, resembling plum or cherry blossoms.

Against the blue sky, they appear even more vibrant.

For those appreciating spring flowers, before crossing the bridge, the rock garden and Korean Peninsula garden are recommended. The gentle grassy paths allow for encounters with various spring flowers, and small trees sprouting new leaves create equally beautiful scenery.

The view at Samsan Mountain Arboretum changes depending on your location.

From the flat ground, the cozy embrace of the gentle ridgeline is inviting, while the forest trails leading to the ridgeline and summit offer expansive views.

Close-up, you can observe the flowers and trees in detail, while the distant landscapes create a splendid harmony of colors.

After climbing a few steep steps and mountain paths, you will arrive at the mid-slope of the arboretum, where the clay path stretches long, secured with fences for safe walking, providing a leisurely barefoot walk of about 30 minutes.

The well-maintained clay is soft and pleasant to walk on, neither muddy nor hard.

Yellow dandelions line the walking trails, while cherry blossoms bloom beautifully on the hills leading to the summit.

Although the cherry blossoms are not in large clusters, they add to the spring ambiance, sometimes standing alone with a significant presence, enhancing the views from temples and observation points.

A visit to the cherry blossoms at Samsan Mountain Arboretum is essential both up close and from a distance.

Following the dandelions, cherry blossoms, and daffodils, the final bloom encountered is the azalea.

At the end of the clay barefoot path, along the hillside leading to the Kids' Dream Forest, clusters of azaleas bloom.

Though they appear small, having been planted not long ago, their pink flowers bloom brightly, and they are expected to become even more splendid in 3-4 years.

After passing the azalea hill and birch garden, you will arrive at another entrance of the arboretum, where families can be seen enjoying picnics at the Kids' Dream Forest playground.

The birch trees sprout fresh light green leaves between their white trunks, while the branches of red plum blossoms hang down, adding to the spring atmosphere.

As cherry blossoms fall like flower rain, the red plum blossoms bloom fully, presenting another beautiful scene. During the second week of April, cherry blossoms, camellias, daffodils, and azaleas harmonize throughout the arboretum, followed by the addition of red plum and dogwood flowers, completing the splendid spring.

If you haven't yet encountered the spring flowers, consider visiting the Samsan Mountain Arboretum.
