Discovering the Hidden Oasis of Summer: Dangjin Central Library

Introducing the hidden secret space to enjoy a cool summer without traveling far: the Dangjin Central Library.
This is the perfect place for families to spend summer, known as 'Bookcations' (Book + Vacation). The library offers a refreshing indoor environment ideal for reading.
From May to August, the library operated a special program called 'Exciting Book Bus' every Saturday, transforming the usual group-oriented book lending service into a unique reading space for small groups.
The library features comfortable reading rooms and various themed spaces, ensuring visitors won't get bored even after a whole day. Whether you want to engage in lively discussions or seek quiet concentration, you can choose a space that fits your mood.
Free parking for up to four hours makes it easy for families to visit without any hassle.
This summer, the library is filled with enriching programs for children. On August 9, there will be a special event titled 'Neighborhood Book Concert' with author Hong Min-jung at the Sinpyeong Sports Park Small Library, allowing children aged 7 to 12 to interact directly with the author.
Additionally, a performance titled 'Sensory Library' will take place on August 29, where stories will be experienced through movement.
Enrollment for the second half of 2026 children's reading clubs will begin on August 21. Various libraries in the city, including the Comprehensive Library, Hapdeok Library, and Songak Library, will offer tailored programs based on grade level.
One of the most anticipated programs is the 'Library Cinema', featuring family-friendly animated films every Sunday at 2 PM.
Adult programs are also available, including 'Humanities on the Road' and 'Wisdom School', offering deep lectures on sleep, health, and our traditional intangible heritage throughout August.
Reading in the heat of summer provides more than just a retreat; it allows for stress relief and personal growth. For children, summer vacation is a great opportunity to explore interests without the academic pressures of the school year.
Regular library visits foster self-directed learning and broaden perspectives through exposure to diverse genres. Family reading time strengthens emotional bonds.
This summer, there's no need to travel far. Enjoy turning the pages with your child at the cool Dangjin Central Library and participate in various programs for a fulfilling summer vacation.
Make the most of this summer by escaping the heat while nourishing your mind.
