The project received full funding of 3.4 billion won from Guangdong Province, with over 80 skilled craftsmen from China meticulously constructing the garden, capturing the authentic aesthetics of traditional gardens.
Combining the garden styles popular from the late Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty with modern sensibilities, the garden offers an open and refreshing space. It is easily accessible by foot from Suwon City Hall Station on the Suin-Bundang Line, making it a great spot for travelers using public transport.
This place, known for being a backdrop in popular historical dramas, boasts stunning scenery that makes it feel like a giant studio. An artificial waterfall cascades beautifully in front of a raised earth mound, while the 'Wolbang', a boat-shaped pavilion seemingly floating on water, is a favorite relaxation spot for visitors.
Unique window designs throughout the garden frame the views like artwork, allowing visitors to capture perfect photos effortlessly. The craftsmanship is evident in every corner, from the roof joints to intricately carved limestone sculptures, providing a visual feast year-round.
Another reason for the high visitor satisfaction is that entry is completely free. Open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM, it’s an ideal place for a leisurely stroll without worrying about expenses. After a long workday, office workers can enjoy a peaceful evening walk.
However, there is no dedicated parking at Hyowon Park, so it’s advisable to check nearby public parking options before visiting. Additionally, to maintain a pleasant environment and protect the ecosystem, food and pets are strictly prohibited.
