Discover the Mystical Sodeung Island in Jangheung

Hello everyone!
This is Jangheung Travel!
Today, we're introducing the mystical <Jangheung Sodeung Island>, located in front of Nampo Village.
Sodeung Island is a small, mysterious island located in front of Nampo Village in Deukryang Bay.
Nampo Village is the filming location of the movie <Festival>, based on a novel by Jangheung native author Lee Cheong-jun.
Most of the filming took place in Nampo Village, and many actual villagers appeared in the film!
If you come up to the observation deck here, you can see the sculpture called "Light of Sodeung Island," which expresses the heartfelt wishes and prayers of a wife waiting for her husband's safe return from the sea.
This artwork commemorates the legend of Sodeung Island and was erected with the meaning of wishing for the safety and well-being of all visitors.
The path to Sodeung Island opens about twice a day.
When the tide goes out at low tide, you can see the path leading to the island.
If you walk along the path for about 5 to 10 minutes according to the time the path opens, you can see the 'Grandmother Dang' statue, with her hands clasped in prayer.
For 500 years, the village has considered Sodeung Island a sacred place, and every year, they set up an altar in front of this statue to perform ancestral rites to pray for the village's peace, prosperity, and a good catch.
There is a well-maintained deck path on the mountain side, so on a nice day, it's great for a light walk after touring Sodeung Island.
After your walk, there is a rest area available, so you can take a break.
<Jangheung Sodeung Island> is famous as a great spot to watch the sunrise.
Be sure to visit and appreciate the unique beauty of Sodeung Island!
