Discover the Beauty of Suncheon Bay National Garden

In the vibrant month of May, the Suncheon Bay National Garden in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, attracts travelers with its lush greenery and vibrant life. As Korea's first national garden, it spans an impressive 1,120,000 square meters, providing a perfect retreat for families and couples alike.
This year, families with pets will be delighted by the news of a complimentary pet care service available within the garden. This service allows pet owners to explore the garden freely while their dogs are cared for by professionals, ensuring a relaxing and healing experience.
From now until the end of December 2026, the free pet care service operates near the West Gate History Hall from 9 AM to 6 PM, allowing pets to stay safely for up to four hours. Due to limited availability, it's essential to make an online reservation at least 14 days in advance. The service is available for small and medium-sized dogs under 12 kg. Owners must bring identification and proof of vaccination to avoid any confusion during check-in.
If you've enjoyed the garden, consider taking a ride on the Sky Cube, a small monorail that travels at 40 km/h over a 4.6 km route. Departing from Garden Station and arriving at Suncheon Bay Station in about 10 minutes, passengers can also enjoy the free reed train that connects to Suncheon Bay Wetlands, making it easy to cover over 7 km comfortably.
The round-trip fare of 8,000 won for adults is well worth it, offering stunning aerial views of Suncheon's ecological landscape. In May, the newly sprouted reeds create a beautiful green wave, making it a favorite spot for photographers looking to capture the artificial beauty of the garden alongside the natural beauty of the wetlands.
The entrance fee for the Suncheon Bay National Garden is 10,000 won for adults, which also includes access to the Suncheon Bay Wetlands on the same day. Visitors can enjoy the garden until 8 PM in May and June, and those entering after 5 PM can take advantage of a 50% discount on night tickets, allowing entry for just 5,000 won.
Note that the last Monday of each month is a regular closing day, so be sure to check this when planning your visit. On weekends and holidays, parking can fill up quickly, so arriving early at 9 AM is recommended for a more relaxed experience.
After exploring the garden, consider dining at a nearby restaurant just five minutes away to try the local delicacy, cockle rice. Restaurants like Namyeong Deulbapsang serve generous meals made with fresh seasonal ingredients, making them ideal for family dining. After your meal, enjoy a cup of coffee at a nearby café like Omonte, which offers a lovely view of the garden.
The Suncheon Bay National Garden, which embodies not just a beautiful experience but also the meaning of ecological conservation, is at its most beautiful this season. With wheelchair and stroller rental services available, it is an accessible destination perfect for a weekend outing with loved ones.
