Day 2 of our trip (August 16th) took us from Yangyang to Gangneung! Here's a glimpse of our itinerary:

Morning: We started with a delicious breakfast at Gogoong, known for their braised skate.

A fantastic view

Next, we headed to Sokcho Central Market to buy souvenirs and, most importantly, pick up Macau Park's goodies!

These were pre-ordered at 6am the previous day. They were so good! The financiers were even better than the egg tarts. Details on how to make reservations will be posted later!

On the way to Yangyang, we saw vendors selling potato rice cakes and corn. Mom insisted we buy some, and they were amazing!

Precious memories A happy moment

Mid-day: Our next stop was Hyuhyuh Arm Temple.

It was so hot, but the ocean view was breathtaking! Truly calming. I feel so at peace at this temple. Maybe it's the teachings of Buddha that broadens my mind...?

Afternoon: Our adventure continued with a café tour in Gangneung!

We originally planned to go to Cafe Choe, Toetmaru, Every Moment, and Graub, but the waits were insane. We ended up at Gangneung & Sol.

An emotional scene

I highly recommend their new corn ice cream! It was so delicious. If you are in Gangneung, don't miss it. I highly recommend it!

Our next stop was Ojukheon.

A dreamy moment

Since my mom's maiden name is Shin, we had to see Shin Saimdang! Ojukheon is quite large, with many photo opportunities. My parents really enjoyed it. It's also a great place to visit with kids!

In Ojukheon, I saw the Yulgok Yi's teaching: 'If you see a profit, think whether it is right.' What a thought!

The currency museum inside Ojukheon is fascinating too. Definitely a great place to visit with kids since there are many things to do.

An emotional scene A great picture

Evening: For dinner, we had cheese soft tofu stew. We initially wanted to go to Choe Il-soon Jjamppong Soft Tofu, but the waitlist was already closed! We ended up at Taebaeksanmaek Restaurant next door.

But, it was delicious! Probably not much different. Although I preferred the original flavor over the cheese version.

Our evening ended with a trip to Sokcho Central Market for some late-night snacks!

The line was still crazy long. We bought shrimp tempura and Manseok Chicken Gangjeong. Success!

Hopeful tomorrow

Manseok tastes like regular Korean fried chicken, but it's addictively good. But the shrimp gangjeong was the real winner!

That's all for day 2 of our Gangwon-do family trip!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment! Stay tuned for the last day of our trip! Bye everyone!!
