Dangjin 3-dong Community Resident Autonomy Program Performance Sharing Session

The Dangjin 3-dong Village Welfare Plan Project, "Heartfelt House for You" & Performance Sharing Session, was held on the 17th at the Dangjin 3-dong Community Service Center's 3rd-floor auditorium. This event showcased the skills honed by participants of the Dangjin 3-dong Community Resident Autonomy Center programs. Here's a glimpse of the event.
Before the event began, members of the Dangjin 3-dong Community Resident Autonomy Committee, as well as the performers, were busy rehearsing early in the morning to coordinate their movements.
In the lobby on the 3rd floor, visual arts from the Community Resident Autonomy Center programs, such as Minhwa (Korean folk painting), calligraphy, and watercolor paintings, were displayed. Although amateur works, these precious pieces, filled with the learners' heartfelt efforts, captured the attention of visitors.
The performance stage began in the auditorium. After watching a video about the Community Resident Autonomy contents, the Moonlight Health Dance performance, which captivated the audience with its intense sound and costumes, took place.
The movements were so powerful that the performers who came off the stage were covered in sweat.
Following this, performances of ocarina and acoustic guitar created a stage where the deepening autumn could be felt even more profoundly.
The final performance was a play prepared by the seniors of Sigok 5-tong. Dressed in beautiful Hanboks (traditional Korean clothing), they went on stage and showed a play based on their simple but brilliantly lived lives, receiving great applause.
The play by the seniors of Sigok 5-tong was prepared as part of the village welfare project to help them escape their monotonous daily lives through communication with their neighbors and to increase their self-esteem and vitality.
Kim Jae-hwan, Chairman of the Dangjin 3-dong Community Resident Autonomy Committee, said, "The average age of the seniors in Sigok 5-tong participating in the play is 84 years old," and added, "They had time to regain vitality in their lives while preparing for the stage since spring."
He also said, "I hope Dangjin 3-dong will become a place where both the elderly and children can live happily." The Dangjin 3-dong Community Resident Autonomy Center operates ocarina, watercolor painting, acoustic guitar, Moonlight Health Dance, beginner English speaking, lively table tennis, calligraphy, Minhwa, and body balance programs. It is hoped that they will continue to strive to provide various programs for local residents to enjoy culture and leisure in 2026.
