Cool Summer Fun at Cheongnam Park

During the sweltering summer heat, a refreshing splash in the water can make all the difference in beating the heat.
Located in Sucheon-dong, Dangjin City, the Cheongnam Neighborhood Park Water Play Area is the perfect spot for this.
This park, with its lush greenery and comfortable amenities, provides a safe space for families to enjoy water activities right in the heart of the city. It has gained popularity among local residents and families visiting the area, especially since there is no entrance fee.
Recently, after the rainy season, I visited the park early in the morning to experience the atmosphere of the water play area.
As I entered the park, I was welcomed by the shade of the dense trees and the soothing sound of water. The laughter of children gathered in small groups added vibrancy to the park.
Will this place become the go-to summer retreat for the citizens of Dangjin? Here’s what I found during my visit.
The Cheongnam Neighborhood Park is located at 2197 Sucheon-dong, Dangjin City. It appears simply as a 'park' on Naver Maps, so I’ve included a map for those planning to visit.
As seen in the photos, there is a designated parking area, making it convenient for those driving to the park.
Even before the pool opened, I noticed groups of parents gathering with their children early in the morning.
The water play area at Cheongnam Neighborhood Park will operate from July 14 to August 31, 2026, for about a month and a half.
It is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM, following a 50-minute operation and 10-minute break schedule. Please note that it is closed every Tuesday and on rainy days, so plan your visit accordingly.
Cheongnam Neighborhood Park is relatively new, and its clean and pleasant environment stood out to me. The water playground is larger than those in other parks, accommodating many visitors at once.
Though not abundant, there are shaded waiting areas, allowing parents visiting with their children to relax comfortably away from the heat.
The park is well-equipped with facilities such as changing rooms and restrooms. The changing rooms are simple but convenient, and the restrooms are available for families to use after water activities.
The water play area may not be extravagant, but it embodies the charm of a true 'local retreat.'
There’s no need to travel far to water parks or beaches; families can safely enjoy summer fun close to home. The well-maintained greenery and shade enhance the experience, allowing families to relax comfortably even after water play.
The installation of such water facilities in city parks reflects Dangjin City's thoughtful consideration for its residents' summer enjoyment. If you haven’t visited yet, I recommend heading to Cheongnam Neighborhood Park before the end of August.
Creating summer memories with your family under the cool water streams is closer than you think.
