Gyeongnam Autumn Date Spot

Jinju's Maple Leaf Hot Spot: Chojeon Park

As the chilly autumn suddenly approached, I looked for a great autumn date spot in Gyeongnam and visited Chojeon Park, famous for its maple leaves in Jinju.

Jinju Chojeon Park was once a site where household waste was piled up for 17 years (1978~1994). It has been transformed into a nature-friendly park where citizens can enjoy various activities, with the establishment of an indoor gymnasium and an indoor swimming pool.

A dedicated parking lot is available, making parking easy.

There is a direct path from the parking lot to the park, so I took a stroll around the park.

Chojeon Park, also famous as a maple leaf spot in Jinju, is quite large, so I recommend checking the map before visiting. From the Metasequoia forest path to the large lawn, pond, fountain, gymnasium, and children's playground, there are many things to see, making it a great place to visit for an autumn date in Gyeongnam.

Throughout the park, there are various themed gardens, including citizen participation gardens and companion gardens created during the Korea Garden Industry Fair held in June this year.

Each themed garden has a guide map, making it fun to explore them one by one.

The Pond of Life, which starts from the park entrance, has a wooden deck path, making it great for taking a walk around the pond. Metasequoia trees line up around the pond, and they are gradually changing color.

There is also a fountain in the middle of the pond, which is refreshing to watch.

The pond water is clean, and there are carp, which the children really liked.

As of October 21st, the Metasequoia trees have not yet turned color, so the peak foliage season this year should be around the second week of November! Still, seeing the trees gradually turning red and yellow gave me a sense that autumn has arrived.

There are benches and shelters throughout Jinju Chojeon Park, making it a great place to take a break. Even on a weekday, there were many families and couples enjoying a light outing.

Just walking along the main Metasequoia path of Chojeon Park was a healing experience. It's nice to take a slow walk around, but it would also be great to rent a bicycle and cycle around as an autumn date course in Gyeongnam!

From the park entrance, past the Metasequoia North Road, and over to the Metasequoia South Road on the opposite side, there are various facilities such as a children's playground, barefoot walking path,족구장 (Jokgu court), and restrooms.

I walked along the bamboo forest path created from the Metasequoia North Road to the inside of the pond. The sunlight coming through the bamboo forest was warm, and just listening to the sounds was a truly healing moment.

Walking along the bamboo forest, I found a dog park for pets. The playground space is spacious, and dogs can roam freely, so I'm sure they'll love it!

Although the foliage is not yet at its peak, it was a great place to take a light stroll and look around the entire park. Around the beginning of November, the Metasequoia trees will turn red and the foliage will be beautifully colored, so I recommend it as a great autumn date spot in Gyeongnam.
