Is there happiness in Dangjin? Yes, there is!

Welcome to the Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center!

Hello!

It’s a pleasure to meet the citizens who support our new changes!

On February 27th, from 2 PM to 3 PM, a very special and heartwarming event took place in Geosan-ri, Sinpyeong-myeon, Dangjin City, where the spring warmth began to breathe life into everything.

This event was the completion ceremony of the 'Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center'.

This project involved a total budget of 12 billion KRW (49.8 billion from the national government, 9.96 billion from the provincial government, and 60.26 billion from the city).

It’s not just about building a structure; it’s the result of a long collaboration between Chungcheongnam-do, Dangjin City, and the residents to improve living conditions in Sinpyeong-myeon and breathe new life into a declining community.

The site was filled with excitement as the core facility, the 'Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center', was inaugurated at 2 PM on February 27th.

Before the ceremony began, a special exhibition was held in the 'Village Issue' space, showcasing the achievements of resident empowerment.

The ceremony included the presentation of plaques to residents and stakeholders who dedicated themselves to this project, which was truly touching.

Urban regeneration is not just about tearing down old buildings and constructing new ones; it’s about bringing together the hearts of scattered neighbors and breaking down generational barriers to nurture community resilience.

The highlight of the event was the 'completion touch button' ceremony. As distinguished guests and resident representatives pressed the button together, the official opening of the center was announced with a spectacular display.

At that moment, everyone’s face was filled with anticipation for a new future in Sinpyeong.

The name 'Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center' carries deep meaning. First, the English word 'Issue' signifies a place where joyful stories and lively activities are never-ending.

Second, the unique dialect of Chungcheong-do, ‘~issyu’, expresses a warm sentiment, asking, “Is there happiness in this village?” and responding, “There is plenty of neighborly affection!”

Like its name, the Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center will serve as a 'connecting link' that weaves together a previously fragmented community.

The center features a warm wood-toned interior and large windows that create an open atmosphere, with spaces efficiently separated for different generations to comfortably gather.

This is not just a place to stay but a space where relationships begin.

The center is designed with four key spaces tailored to the life cycles and needs of residents.

The first is the Community Hub, where residents can gather over coffee and discuss local matters, serving as the heart of the community.

The second is the Health Issue space, aimed at addressing health concerns for the elderly with tailored exercise programs and health consultations.

The third is the Care Issue space, which alleviates the childcare burden for working couples, providing a safe haven for children after school and fostering intergenerational interactions.

The fourth is the Youth Issue space, a dedicated area for teenagers to relax and pursue their dreams through cultural activities.

Additionally, the surrounding area has been improved with expanded urban planning roads, walking paths, and ample parking, making it more accessible for residents.

The streets of Sinpyeong looked much brighter after the ceremony, symbolizing a foundation for new vitality.

We hope that the Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center will deliver happiness to every household in Sinpyeong and serve as a strong bridge connecting generations.

If you visit Sinpyeong-myeon, be sure to stop by the Sinpyeong Happiness Issue Center, where warmth and a bright future await you.

I look forward to returning as a user of this space, sharing tea with residents in the community area, listening to children’s laughter in the youth space, and experiencing how health programs are run.

Just because the building is finished doesn’t mean the story ends; the real story begins now, in the time of the people who will fill this space.

Thank you for reading!
