Camping at the National Park in Mongsanpo, Taean

▲ Overview of the southern part of the National Park in Taean
I recently enjoyed a 2-day camping trip at the Mongsanpo campsite located in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do.
May is perhaps the best time for camping.
Thanks to the cool breeze and pleasant weather, spending time in nature is truly enjoyable these days.

Especially, Taean, where Mongsanpo is located, is known as the 'Holy Land of West Coast Camping'
due to its excellent environment and is perfect for enjoying mudflat experiences.
Among them, the National Park Mongsanpo campsite is a place I frequently visit around this time of year
due to its reasonable fees and outstanding location.
▲ Impressive campsite scenery with dense pine forests
Upon entering the campsite, you are welcomed by a lush pine forest.
The sites arranged among the trees blend well with nature, creating a more relaxed and calm atmosphere.

The ground condition is good, and the overall organization is well-maintained, providing a pleasant camping experience.
Facilities such as restrooms and cooking areas are also kept clean,
making it particularly popular among family visitors.
▲ The campsite has several sections, allowing you to feel its unique characteristics
During peak seasons like now, it's not too difficult to find availability,
but if you plan to visit on weekends or during peak times, you should make reservations in advance.
Reservations can be made through the 'National Park Reservation System'.
Currently, the system has changed from first-come, first-served to a lottery and remaining spots structure.
▲ Mongsanpo campsite, popular for enjoying both camping and mudflat experiences
One of the joys of visiting Mongsanpo is the mudflat experience.
During the right tidal times, many people come out to the mudflats to catch clams and enjoy the night.
▲ Mongsanpo beach, just a 3-minute walk from the campsite
The beach, characterized by the unique wide and gentle slopes of the west coast, is very popular among family travelers.
The long pine forest stretches along the beach, allowing you to enjoy camping while also appreciating the beautiful beach scenery.
▲ A new observatory has recently been established at the beach, offering stunning views.
Although it has not officially opened yet, the illuminated beach at night offers a truly beautiful scene, likely becoming a landmark of Mongsanpo.

The beach at sunset looks like this. Isn't it beautiful?
From this time, you can see many people gathering to start mudflat activities.
While it’s a fun time, safety is crucial during mudflat activities.
Always check the tidal times and stay close to the beach to ensure safety.

I hope the orderly camping culture that values nature and each other continues to thrive,
making Taean Mongsanpo an even more beautiful and meaningful travel destination.
In May, the month of family, if you're planning a trip,
make wonderful memories with your family at Mongsanpo beach!
