Autumn Foliage and Cable Car Journey at Gariwangsan Mountain in Jeongseon
41-35, Jungbong-gil, Bukpyeong-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do

Hello! :)
I'm Morrison, a travel influencer.
This time, I visited Gariwangsan Cable Car in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do,
where you can enjoy both 'autumn foliage' and a 'cable car trip' at the same time.
Perhaps because it was the peak of the foliage season, the entire mountain was dyed red and yellow,
and the scenery from the summit was truly like a watercolor painting.

📍 41-35, Jungbong-gil, Bukpyeong-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do (Jeongseon Alpine Centre)

After parking in the spacious parking lot in front of the ticket office,
you'll slowly walk up to the cable car boarding area.
Please remember that tickets for the Jeongseon Gariwangsan Cable Car can only be purchased on-site!
And here's a little tip!
If you show your receipt at the ticket office after issuing a ticket at the kiosk,
you will receive a 'Jeongseon Arirang Gift Certificate worth ₩5,000' per person.
You can use it right away at nearby restaurants or cafes,
making it perfect for saving on food costs. 😊
🚠 Gariwangsan Cable Car Ride
The cable car, which you can board at Sukam Station, the boarding station,
takes about 23 minutes to reach the summit,
and about 46 minutes for a round trip.
At first, I thought it might be a long time,
but once you ride it, there's no time to be bored at all.
The transparent glass windows offer a panoramic view of the Jeongseon mountain range as you ascend,
and the maple leaves swaying in the breeze
seemed to be dancing before my eyes.
Every time the oncoming cable cars passed by in a cute way,
it was as beautiful as a scene from a movie.
I thought, 'This is why Gariwangsan is a must-visit place in Jeongseon.'
If possible, I recommend visiting around 10 a.m., during opening hours.
You can enjoy it in peace before the group tourists flock in.
⛰️ Summit Observatory & Photo Zone
When you reach the summit, you are greeted by a cool, open sky and clouds,
and an endless mountain range.
There was a wooden deck path around the observatory,
so I could take a leisurely walk and enjoy the scenery in all directions.
If you go up the stairs a little,
you can see the layers of Gariwangsan ridges at a glance,
and the moment when the autumn sun fell on the mountain
was truly an unforgettable scene.
In the photo zones set up in the middle,
it's good for families, lovers, and friends to take pretty souvenir photos,
and if you take a selfie with the open scenery in the background,
it's perfect for getting the best shot of your life! 😉
On the 3rd floor of the Jeongseon Observatory,
there was also a telescope installed, so I could enjoy the scenery of Jeongseon up close,
and the 2nd floor was a resting space with sunlight pouring in through the glass windows,
so it was also nice to sit for a while and enjoy a cup of coffee.
⬇️ The Way Down
The way down felt different from the way up.
The cable car line stretching down the mountain
and the approaching autumn foliage forest looked like a painting.
Perhaps because the direction of the sunlight was different,
the scenery seen on the descent felt warmer.
I remember my dad saying, "It's been a long time since we've had a trip like this," in the cable car with just the two of us.
🏞️ Jeongseon Alpine Plaza & Cafe
On the first floor of the cable car ticket office building,
there is an exhibition space called 'Jeongseon Alpine Plaza'.
It was interesting just to see the exhibitions related to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics
and the sports materials and Olympic equipment on display.
Also, on the second floor, there was a cafe with seats by the window with a panoramic view.
Holding a warm cup of coffee and looking outside,
the mountain range unfolding beyond the glass feels like a painting.
In particular, this place was created with donations from singer Jeon Young-rok,
so it was even more meaningful.
Enjoying the exhibition and then relaxing with a cup of coffee,
this combination was truly healing.
⭐ Overall Review
Gariwangsan Cable Car in Jeongseon
is a place that is not at all a waste of the name 'Autumn Foliage Spot'.
While riding the cable car up and down,
the foliage, clouds, and mountain ranges constantly changed,
warming both my eyes and my heart.
I heard that Jeongseon Gariwangsan Cable Car is famous not only for its autumn foliage but also as a snow scene spot in winter,
so I want to visit again to enjoy the different charms of each season.
This trip to Jeongseon with my dad
was a day that left me with 'memories' beyond just the scenery. 😊
