An Impromptu Escape to Busan: A Day of Sea, Books, and Delicious Tonkatsu

A record of my summer escape to Busan! ⛱️
I was melting away in the scorching heat of Daegu when I heard that Busan was a cool 28 degrees Celsius. I immediately booked a KTX train ticket!
It was true!
Busan was the coolest place in the whole country.
And so began my spontaneous getaway...
Because it was so sudden, I didn't decide on a destination or any specific plans. In times like these, I just go to my favorite place!
That's how I ended up at my all-time favorite Busan cafe, 'Haebing Moment' ☕

Among Busan's many seas, I love the Yeongdo Sea the most.
Looking at the ships bobbing on the water, I'm awed, as it feels like witnessing someone's intense life for their livelihood.
(The heart of an office worker)
I prefer this dynamic, vibrant sea to one that's simply calm, clear, and pretty!!
Haebing Moment in January
It may be a place of work for someone, but to me, watching from afar, it's just a painting...

I wonder if my chaotic, fast-paced days at the hospital look beautiful in someone else's eyes.
Anyway, I ❤️ Yeongdo Sea.
The real gem of Haebing Moment is the second floor, but it was too crowded on the weekend to go up.
But since it's summer and the sun is strong, the cool first floor is good too!
Even better! (^.^ ????????)
The first floor is beautiful too.

I even brought a book in case I got bored.
<The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society>, which I bought from Sosimhan Bookstore in April.
Now that I see it, the cover design looks similar to Yeongdo.
There are so many characters in this book that I'm a bit confused.
Plus, I stopped reading it for a while, so I'm even more confused ^.^ ;
The owner of Sosimhan Bookstore said that after reading this book, she wanted to start a Gujwa Carrot Peel Pie Book Club, which is actually happening now.

It's so inspiring to see people making their dreams a reality!
What dreams do I have right now...?
Ah... my stalled NCLEX studies.
My head stings every time I think about it (d/t guilt).
Next time I pay for UWorld, I should just book a plane ticket too...
So, I had some reading time with a cinnamon financier (delicious 😋) and an Americano.
After reading until I finished my coffee, I wondered where to go next and decided on Gukje Market!!!
This is my first time at Gukje Market...
Of course... Until I moved to Daegu,
Busan was so far away that I'd only been there 3 times in my life.
Review of Gukje Market: It's exotic. It feels like Korea, but not Korea (positive).
And it made me realize once again that Busan is a really big city... a second city.
I've never seen such a big market before...

I went to Gukje Market to shop for stationery.
I was really into cute things at the time.
Pompompurin is my favorite Sanrio character, but who made Pompompurin's eyes like that...? ㅠ ㅠ Anyway, I love searching every nook and cranny to find treasures that I like among all these items, so I rummaged diligently.
And I bought some super cute clips and a mechanical pencil.
The owner even gave me a discount because I was the last customer (^.^ 🤩)
Busan's generosity is the best!

I was in a phase of liking cute things, so I played claw machines.
People who like claw machines are divided into those who like cute things and those who enjoy the act of winning itself, and I was both... (serious)
So, I spent quite a lot of money on claw machines in July...
I even asked ChatGPT how to stop playing claw machines all the time.
I stopped as soon as a monk at Naksansa Temple told me to practice abstinence...
(I'm good at listening to Buddha's words ㅎ.ㅎ 😂)

Anyway, I don't particularly like Hangyodong, but it was meaningful in Busan.
Someone left one Hangyodong tagged, so I won it on my first try, and I invested a few thousand won to win another one because it was cute.
It's even cuter outside hehe
That's the end of the schedule.
A super simple outing.
Since I had to go to work the next day, all that was left was to eat dinner and prepare for work.
I took a picture because it felt like Hongdae Street here.

I heard there's a delicious tonkatsu restaurant, so I came here.
Tonshou!
I heard the Gwangalli branch is famous, but I don't really like Gwangalli... too many people...
A branch opened in Suseong-gu, Daegu, but I'm too lazy... I don't go outside of Jung-gu often...
So, I thought, let's eat it while I'm here!!!! and immediately made a reservation.
But people take so long to eat their tonkatsu...
There weren't many people left in front of me, but I waited a really long time ㅠ ㅠ

Ah, this was delicious.
Cold soup.
This is crazy...
The softest, non-greasiest tonkatsu I've ever had...
It was the first time here.
Looking at the pictures again makes me want to eat it again...
The fatigue of waiting melted away with the meat...

And as I was wandering aimlessly, I saw a wooden sign that said 'Daeungjeon,' so I wondered if there was a temple in this kind of place and walked over.
Whoa!?? There really is a temple.
What's up with Busan's charm...
I went in briefly.
I wasn't as devout then as I am now.
(My real devotion came after visiting Naksansa Temple ㅎ ㅎ)
Until then, I just thought of temples and Buddhism as familiar because of my parents...
I went in briefly and paid my respects to Buddha.
Temple cats sitting with Buddha!! So, so cute (*.* 😍)!!!

End of the outing -. Back to Daegu.
It was really fun, Busan is full of charm,
I'll come again next time, I'm sad that Busan will be farther away when I leave Daegu...
But on the other hand, I want to go back to Seoul soon...
I just want to clone myself and keep one in Gyeongsang-do.
I absolutely love all the cities in the Yeongnam region.
I guess I'm just 100% pure Gyeongsang DNA.

Busan trip souvenir.
That mechanical pencil is really... really cute... I bought it because I thought I could study for the NCLEX for 3 hours straight with that pencil, but my UWorld expired (my ₩300,000 ㅠ ㅠ)
Just you wait.
I'm going to pass the NCLEX by 2026, so I'll use that pencil as much as I want...
(Hehe, I need to go to Busan again soon)
