A Tranquil Winter at Ami Art Museum and the Boldness of Dust-like Things
충청남도 당진 시 순성면 남부로 753-4

In December, Ami Art Museum settles into a calm winter rhythm, where the traces of the year quietly linger throughout the former school-turned-gallery. The seasonal stillness enhances the museum’s reflective mood.
Alongside the winter landscape, the museum presents Kim Hee-ra’s exhibition The Boldness of Dust-like Things, offering visitors a chance to close the year through art, contemplation, and gentle seasonal warmth.
Ami Art Museum in Winter
Throughout the year, Ami Art Museum transforms with the seasons, from cherry blossoms and hydrangeas to autumn foliage. In winter, however, the space embraces a quieter palette.
Bare trees, dry reeds, and fallen leaves replace vibrant colors, while ivy and evergreen plants maintain a subtle sense of life around the old school buildings.
Seasonal Atmosphere and Year-End Details
The former classrooms, now exhibition halls, feel especially intimate in winter. The contrast between bare branches outside and warm interior spaces creates a comforting atmosphere.
Christmas decorations at the ticket booth, exhibition halls, and art shop add gentle festive touches, with wreaths and small bells quietly signaling the year’s end.
The Boldness of Dust-like Things Exhibition
The autumn exhibition The Boldness of Dust-like Things by artist Kim Hee-ra runs from October 31, 2025, to March 23, 2026. It is presented alongside the permanent exhibition Everyone’s Garden.
Spanning four sections across the left exhibition hall and the traditional tiled house, the exhibition uses clothing and fabric as its main materials.
Exploring Fabric, Memory, and Identity
The exhibition is structured into sections titled The Witch’s Room, The Monologue Room, WHO A U, and The Gap.
Each space reflects small thoughts and experiences familiar to everyday life, expressed through delicate yet bold textile-based installations.
The Witch’s Room features translucent white materials that feel bright at first glance, yet subtly evoke unease beneath the surface.
The Monologue Room intensifies in color, with red silk filling the space and a blue elongated piece titled Wiggle Wiggle adding playful contrast.
WHO A U and The Gap
In WHO A U, clothing is stripped of function, leaving only its framework. The works invite reflection on clothing as protection, social expression, and identity.
The final section, The Gap, unfolds within the traditional tiled house. Smoke-like forms, colorful textiles, and old wooden floors merge to create a layered narrative space.
The Gap reflects the multiple roles Kim Hee-ra inhabits in daily life, with tangled threads and the recorded sound of a sewing machine symbolizing accumulated thoughts stitched into stories.
Winter Programs and Museum Experience
Inside and outside the art shop, Christmas-themed decorations continue the festive mood. Two free experiential programs are available, including Fluffy Hand Embroidery and Christmas Weaving Art Ornament Making.
Visitors can create small trees and stockings, making the museum visit interactive and seasonally memorable.
