This holiday was incredibly long, so I knew I'd be bored to death if I stayed home.

I belatedly tried to find a train to Daejeon, but of course, there were none.

So, I decided to take the 7:10 AM bus from Chuncheon.

Pro Tip: Use public transportation during holidays! The bus-only lanes meant no traffic jams and an on-time arrival.

I had heard that some restaurants would be open during the holidays, but even though it wasn't the actual holiday, everything was closed...

Even places that claimed they never close! ㅠㅠㅠ

After some deliberation, I decided to go to another restaurant that would open in an hour.

(A bad decision in hindsight... I should have joined the queue already!!)

First stop: Daejeon Modern History Exhibition Hall. It was a good way to kill time.

It was around 10 AM, so it wasn't crowded, making it easy to take photos.

After about an hour, I got super hungry and headed to:

Nongmin Tteugeuni

Ugh.

I heard they had a table reservation system, but due to some data fire incident...

I didn't expect the waiting list to be affected too! ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

I stood in line for an hour in the rain with an umbrella, before finally getting inside. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

I ordered a small size, but it was HUGE! Really big and a lot of food...

The taste wasn't bad, but it wasn't really my personal preference...

Not sure it was worth the wait...??

Judie Marie

On the way to a souvenir shop after lunch, I was craving coffee.

I went in and it was so cute!

Seriously... Almost all the souvenir shops were closed.

How is that even possible?

Even the department store! And it wasn't even the actual holiday...

Kkumdori House

Hmm... They don't have many items here.

I couldn't find what I really wanted to buy, so I decided to get Kkumdori walnut pastries from the cafe upstairs.

But wait,

Is this right...?

The one I saw online was this, but

What's that hideous thing?

They said they didn't have chocolate ones either. ㅠㅠ

They also said they didn't have boxes, but I bought it anyway since it's Kkumdori~ sigh...

One It To Maison Tanbang

Cured all my bad luck at once!

No waiting! Yessss!

I'm so happy that this is enough for happiness now. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

A dessert with a price that changes... first time I've heard that..

It was a Kkumdori Sando, let's just call it a Kkumdori Sandwich.

Sando is 뭔

Still, I ate it deliciously and spent a long time here. ❤️

Korean Liquor Bar Yeonriji

The only place I made a reservation for,

And my favorite place in Daejeon! ㅠㅠ

It was my first time having brisket yukhoe, and it was delicious!

Panfare Confectionery

I came to buy cookies for gifts before going to the hotel,

And swept up everything left.

So cute and even delicious!!

I don't have photos of the hotel, but it was called Meteor Hotel,

And it was clean and not bad.

They offered me songpyeon (rice cakes) when I checked out for the holiday, but I declined lol.

Yep... Since I came to Daejeon,

Sungsimdang DCC Branch

Standing in line took up the whole day.

No time to go to other bakeries... (Everything's closed anyway).

I brought a tarpaulin bag from home to pack several boxes of Bomunsan Meari and rolls.

Packed everything carefully and had a cup of Sungsimdang's own soymilk.

Udongya

You can tell how hungry I was just by looking at the packed rice balls lololol. I couldn't even finish it all, so I took the rest home. ㅜ

Udongya... This is also a udon restaurant run by Sungsimdang,

And it was the only restaurant operating nearby.

Only Sungsimdang fed my friend on Chuseok.

Only Sungsimdang sold bread.

ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

I really wanted to buy Daejeon ramen as a souvenir,

And I heard it was at the Daejeon Station souvenir shop,

But it was also closed for the holiday ^_ㅠ

I didn't feel confident carrying the bread around, so I stored my luggage and walked to a convenience store to buy it. ㅜㅜㅜ

I was happy to get a KTX ticket,

But the train kept getting delayed, so the time between Seoul Station and Yongsan Station was tight, so I ran like crazy, and in the end, my tarpaulin bag couldn't handle it and broke... and I was running while holding onto it..

Really, nothing went right from beginning to end...

End of my Daejeon trip,, ^_ㅠ

But you know what? After some time passed, I want to go to Sungsimdang again!
