A Refreshing Getaway to Danyang: Scenery, Activities, and Delicious Food!
I recently took a much-needed short trip to Danyang to get some fresh air.
Come to think of it, this is only the second domestic overnight trip I've taken since the beginning of 2025, after my trip to Gyeongju earlier this year.
This marks my second domestic trip this year, and it's also my second time visiting Danyang!
Danyang is beautiful with its nature unfolding along the Namhan River. It's also great for a 1-night, 2-day trip because it offers activities like paragliding and ziplining.
I visited all the places on the map below. If you have more time, I recommend visiting:
✴️ Danyang Suyanggae Light Tunnel
✴️ Cafe Sann or Dokkaebi (Goblin) Cafe
They would be perfect additions to your itinerary.
✅ Sono Bell Danyang
This is where we stayed for one night. It took about 3 and a half hours from Seoul, including a stop at a rest area, after departing at 12 PM.
Sono Bell Danyang has an East Wing and a West Wing. The West Wing is remodeled, while the East Wing isn't.
We thought we booked a Lake View room in the East Wing (unremodeled), but we were assigned a Family Standard room with kitchen in the remodeled East Wing.
We were a little disappointed that it wasn't a Lake View, but ultimately, we were happy with the clean, remodeled room. ^-^
The bathroom was free of water stains, the toilet had good water pressure, and there was a bidet (though we didn't use it).
There were plenty of towels (6).
Since it was a room with kitchen facilities, it had most of the necessary dishes and utensils. More importantly, it was clean!
We found mosquito repellent spray, a hair dryer, and remote controls in the table drawers.
Even without the Lake View, it was still great! The forest view was amazing.
Our family of three each used our own bedding here. I even layered two sets of bedding on the floor to sleep on. Haha.
✅ Mancheonha Skywalk
Operating Hours: 9 AM - 5 PM
We arrived here at 4 PM.
Besides the Skywalk, there were several activities available, including a zipline, slide, and alpine coaster.
When we arrived, the slide and alpine coaster were already closed, so only the Skywalk and zipline were available.
Due to my husband's back issues, we decided to postpone the zipline to another time and just visited the Skywalk, which was still great.
*Admission Fee (including round-trip bus): Adults 4,000 won / Teenagers 3,000 won
*Monorail: 3,000 won per person
Since we entered late, we took the monorail up and the bus down. The slope was quite steep, which was a little scary.
A rainbow appeared as we got off the monorail! Wow!
The mountain scenery reminded me of Gangwon-do.
To get to the Skywalk, you have to walk up a winding slope.
We cleaned the dust off our shoes before stepping onto the glass floor.
We also took pictures at the angel wings photo zone.
The view was amazing.
✅ Moss Tunnel
It's located near Mancheonha Skywalk.
The walls on both sides of the road are covered in moss, making it a popular photo spot recently.
You can park at the nearby Suyanggae Prehistoric Relics Exhibition Hall. Parking is free.

The Moss Tunnel is literally a road, so you have to be careful.
Unfortunately, it has a sad history.
If you visit, be sure to watch out for cars or go early in the morning! (There's no sidewalk.)
When I went around 5:35 PM, the tunnel looked darker because the trees above were lush.
✴️ Suyanggae Prehistoric Relics Exhibition Hall & Suyanggae Light Tunnel
The Suyanggae Light Tunnel is open until 10 PM.
We didn't go because it would take another hour for the sun to set that day, and it was an awkward time with dinner.
✅ Danyang Gu-gyeong Market
This parking lot is very large and free.
There's also street parking and riverside parking.
There's a free monorail for those with mobility issues. It's so cute!

The highlight of any trip is the market, right?
Danyang is famous for garlic, so there are many garlic-related foods.
It was bustling on a Saturday evening! But there were fewer people than Gwangjang Market.
Oseong Fried Chicken
Uniquely, they fry it with leftover vegetables.
It's not just regular fried chicken; it has a garlic-based seasoning that's delicious!! It's also good even when it's cold.
Danpat Bakery
You can order like in the picture.
The garlic seasoning is the base.

The brown thing on the signature side? I thought it was tuna, but it's coffee cream.
Basic garlic bread + cream is delicious!
Danyang Garlic Dumplings
Ginseng Rib Dumplings, Shrimp Garlic Dumplings, Tteokgalbi Garlic Dumplings, Kimchi Garlic Dumplings~~
Everything was sold out except for ginseng and shrimp, so I only packed shrimp dumplings.
It reminded me of Takamatsu Gyoza Ya. Hehe.
Danyang Black Garlic Chicken Gangjeong (Sweet Crispy Chicken)
It's the store on the left in the picture above.
It's black garlic chicken gangjeong.
It has a slightly spicy and black garlic flavor. It's worth trying.
Black Garlic Salt Bread

Danyang is serious about garlic. Hehe.
This is the black garlic salt bread. Haha.
The taste is a bit sweet.
Salt Bread Ice Cream :)
They cut off the bottom, press the inside of the bread, and fill it with Shanghai ice cream.
Instead of going to a cafe with a paragliding view because of my child's academy schedule, we ate ice cream. ????????
✅ Native Garlic Sausage
I don't have a picture taken right in front of it.
It's at the entrance of Gu-gyeong Market.
I ordered garlic sundae guk (soup) with only sundae (sausage).
There are whole garlic cloves inside the sundae.
My husband ordered gopchang (intestine) garlic sundae tang (stew).
My child had tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties).
We all enjoyed it very much.
✅ Dodam Sambong Pleasure Boat
I made a reservation on Naver the day before.
Online reservations are cheaper than buying tickets on-site.
Middle school students pay the adult rate.
The water level is low now, so the duration has been changed from 50 minutes to 40 minutes. The area is short, so it's a bit disappointing, but it's still relaxing.
