A Rainy Day Trip in Jeju: Waffle Buckwheat Village and Saryeoni Forest Path
362-16 Wahle-ri, Jocheon-eup

This fall, I took a trip to Jeju Island on a rainy day. Two places stood out: the Waffle Buckwheat Village, with its beautiful buckwheat flowers in full bloom, and the Saryeoni Forest Path, where I enjoyed a peaceful stroll. Let me introduce you to these two places I visited on a drizzly autumn day.
Waffle Buckwheat Village
The buckwheat field, a gift from autumn, is located in Namjo-ro, Jocheon-eup, Jeju. Buckwheat is planted twice a year, in May and October, so you can enjoy two festivals, making it a popular spot for Jeju travelers!
Festival Information
Festival Period: Until November 3rd
Location: 362-16 Wahle-ri, Jocheon-eup
Parking: Plenty of parking space available
Admission: Free
Operating Hours: 9 AM to 5 PM
Parking Area
The parking lot at Waffle Buckwheat Village on a rainy day in Jeju. If you go straight along the road from the entrance, you'll find a paved parking lot. There's also an unpaved open parking area across from the buckwheat field. There's enough space for many cars, so it wasn't hard to find a spot.
Operating Hours
Currently, they are preparing for a festival related to Jacheongbi, the god of agriculture in Jeju. When I visited on October 19th, there was a musical performance scheduled at the outdoor special stage, but the timing didn't work out, so I only got to see the rehearsal.
The operating hours were from 9 AM to 5 PM, so please keep that in mind.
Booth Operation
On the way to see the flowers after parking, there was a large flower field on the left and a building on the right. In between, there were food stalls and experience booths operating under tents.
It's not a large scale, but it has a street food vibe, so it's a good place to have lunch. The menu includes warm noodles, bibim noodles, bingtteok (Jeju-style buckwheat crepe), and pancakes, all made with delicious buckwheat.
Buckwheat Field Details
I started walking along the buckwheat field path!
I had a relaxing time looking at the flowers along the path. Since it was raining, there weren't many people, and the soft sound of birds singing was like music to my ears.
The buckwheat flowers in bloom looked like popcorn scattered everywhere :)
The white snow that fell in autumn was beautiful. Feel free to watch the Waffle Buckwheat Village video (30 seconds).
As I was walking, I wanted to sit down for a while, and since there weren't any people at the photo zone under the big tree, I sat down with my child, took some pictures, and had a conversation.
The Jeju Waffle Buckwheat Village Festival, where I enjoyed autumn to the fullest, runs from October 3rd to November 2nd. If you're planning a trip to Jeju during this period, I highly recommend adding it to your itinerary.
For your information, there are many stones and soil on the path, so it's a bit rough. I recommend wearing sneakers for walking. (It takes about 30 minutes.)
Saryeoni Forest Path
I also wanted to take a walk on the Jeju Saryeoni Forest Path on a rainy day, so I stopped by. It's a 15-minute drive from the buckwheat field, so it's a good place to include in your itinerary.
Saryeoni Forest Path Parking Lot
The Saryeoni Forest Path parking lot is easily accessible by searching for the Namjo-ro entrance. If you go to the Bijarim-ro entrance, there is no parking lot nearby, so it's best to go to the Namjo-ro entrance when visiting Jeju.
Saryeoni Forest Path Admission Fee
Saryeoni Forest Path Admission Fee = Free
As always, I started from the barrier-free Nanum Forest Path! From start to finish, the wooden deck is neatly laid out, making it easy to walk with young children and accessible for wheelchairs.
Rainy Day Forest Path Scenery
It had been a while since I walked the Jeju Saryeoni Forest Path on a rainy day, so I started walking with an excited heart. The floor was a bit slippery because it was wet, but thanks to that, I was able to walk slowly, which was nice.
The more I walked, the more I felt the fatigue leaving my body. The cool feeling of the moist air filled with moisture entering my heart was truly healing.
As I entered a slightly deeper forest, I felt like I was on a primeval forest path.
I felt the forest by stepping on the soil instead of the deck, and I looked up at the trees soaring high into the sky. Getting rained on like dew was a romantic Jeju trip.
There are benches and rest areas installed in the middle, so I hope you take your time and walk.
