I visited the Palgakjeong Pavilion, the symbol of Pomegranate Park, which is the 4th of the 8 scenic views of Jinju. This beautiful pavilion, located on Saebyeori Hill, is the best observatory with a panoramic view of Jinju. Named after the pomegranate flower, which symbolizes Jinju, it serves as a gateway to Jinju from the Namhae Expressway and is a resting place loved by many citizens and tourists.
Upon arriving at the entrance of Pomegranate Park, you'll find ample free parking, making it easily accessible.
As you enter the park after parking, you will be greeted by a cool artificial waterfall. This waterfall, which boasts a considerable drop, serves as a natural air conditioner, especially in the summer, and the sound of the falling water alone is calming. It seems they are not operating now because it is fall.
Outdoor exercise equipment is installed throughout the park for the health of citizens, so you can enjoy a light workout along with a walk.
Clean toilet facilities are also available, making it convenient for families to visit. The park is well-equipped with amenities, making it a place that anyone can visit without burden.
The promenade to Palgakjeong Pavilion is well-maintained with a gentle slope. You can slowly walk along the nature-friendly path through the dense trees and enjoy the scent of the forest full of phytoncides.
In the middle of the promenade, there is a unique artificial cave. It is not blocked on all sides, but has holes in the shape of windows in the middle, so you can enjoy the scenery from inside the cave. The waterfall and surrounding scenery viewed from here offer another charm, and it is a special space that gives children the joy of exploration.
The last section leading up to Palgakjeong Pavilion is safely built with wooden decks. As you climb the stairs, the increasingly widening view adds to the anticipation, and as you get closer to the top, the panorama of Jinju begins to gradually reveal itself.
Finally, you've arrived at Palgakjeong Pavilion! This beautiful pavilion, built in the traditional Korean architectural style, is a symbol of Pomegranate Park. The octagonal roof and dancheong harmonize perfectly with the surrounding natural landscape, allowing you to feel the architectural aesthetics of the Joseon Dynasty ancestors even in modern times.
The view of Jinju from Palgakjeong Pavilion is truly spectacular. I would recommend it if you are looking for an observatory in Jinju. The Namgang River flows leisurely, and the Jinju cityscape unfolds at a glance. On a clear day, you can see Bibongsan Mountain and Seonhaksan Mountain in the distance, and if you are lucky, you can also see the magnificent 모습 of Jirisan Mountain.
The pillars of the pavilion create a frame effect, creating a more elegant view, and you can sit here calmly and feel the history and present of Jinju at the same time.
Pomegranate Park Palgakjeong Pavilion walking course where you can enjoy nature, history, and a great view in the city. If you visit Jinju, I highly recommend you take a walk here.
