A Memorable Parent's Day in Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do
This Parent's Day, I visited Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do.
I wanted to share the beautiful scenery of Hongju Martyrs' Tomb and Hongyang Reservoir, which I visited for photography.
It was a great place to visit with family.
In the quiet atmosphere, we enjoyed nature while sharing stories together, making it a meaningful time to reflect on historical significance.
Basic Information about Hongju Martyrs' Tomb

Parking is available right in front of the entrance, with ample space and free of charge.
Visiting Hongju Martyrs' Tomb (Recommended for Family Trips)
Hongju Martyrs' Tomb is the resting place for the unknown soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Hongju Uprising against Japanese invasion in the late Joseon Dynasty.
In 1906, many soldiers died in this battle, but their bodies were left unburied due to Japanese surveillance.
In 1949, the scattered remains were discovered and reinterred at the current site.
As I entered, I was struck by the beauty of the clover flowers blooming at the entrance, reminiscent of the ancestors who protected our country.
The first place I visited was the Martyrs' Tomb, a large grave where the discovered remains were interred.
After a short walk, I came across a shrine dedicated to the spirits of the soldiers, where memorial services are held annually.
The walking paths were well-made, featuring beautiful pine forests and nicely paved trails leading toward the Hongju Uprising Memorial Tower.
The tower was tall and majestic, adorned with reliefs of the soldiers and a large round sculpture.
I took a moment to think of those who gave their lives for our country, without seeking recognition.

If you absorbed the historical significance at Hongju Martyrs' Tomb, then Hongyang Reservoir, just a 10-minute drive away, is a perfect place to relax.
It offers a great spot for family conversations as you gaze at the expansive horizon of the reservoir.
Once a simple agricultural reservoir, it has transformed into a popular lakeside park with well-developed walking paths and parks.
The deck path along the reservoir is gentle enough for the elderly and children, allowing for a leisurely stroll.
With the cool breeze, worries of daily life quickly fade away.
It was a quiet place where I could walk with my family and share stories.
Overall, my time spent in Hongseong this Parent's Day was truly healing.
The Hongju Martyrs' Tomb and Hongyang Reservoir are wonderful places to visit with loved ones.
I recommend visiting these two spots for a peaceful family trip.
