There are two types of travel.

One is the kind where you check off famous places, and the other is a journey that lingers in your heart for a long time.

Today’s trip to the Heavenly Garden in Okcheon, Chungbuk, was undoubtedly the latter.

When my navigation system announced that I had arrived, I thought, "It must be a pretty garden," as I purchased my ticket and climbed the wooden stairs.

(Reservations are required, and they check the last digits of your phone number.)

However, the moment I stepped through the entrance, my thoughts changed.

It felt like stepping into a fairy tale village where someone had generously poured green paint and dotted it with red, yellow, pink, and white flower petals.

"Flowers don’t rush to bloom, so why have I lived so busily?"

This thought crossed my mind as I walked.

Looking at the flowers, trees, and gazing up at the sky might be the simplest happiness we have forgotten.

Nestled by the blue waves of Daechong Lake,

the aquatic plant garden in Okcheon welcomes you to the Heavenly Garden!

Established in 2003, this garden began to take shape with the care of local residents.

After passing the ticket booth and climbing the stairs, you enter a narrow path that feels like a gateway to another world, reminiscent of the Chronicles of Narnia.

This secretive entrance immediately heightens your expectations.

As you stroll along the walking paths while gazing at the deep blue Daechong Lake, you might feel as if you are somewhere high above in the heavenly realm, with a refreshing breeze and an uplifting mood.

The highlight of this place is undoubtedly the 'Smallest Church in the World.'

This petite chapel, which can accommodate only 5 to 6 people, gives the impression of being at the very top of the Heavenly Garden.

It has a mystical ambiance, reminiscent of a princess's castle in a small country.

Throughout the garden, summer flowers were in full bloom.

The flowers that caught my eye were the wild rose, yellow lily, and hydrangea.

The wild roses are currently at 120% bloom, slowly starting to fade.

The yellow lilies blooming in the Heavenly Garden are particularly unique and elegant.

The fresh hydrangeas have just begun to bloom, signaling the start of summer.

This might just be the most beautiful lake garden in Korea.

After winding up the mountain road, the lake garden unfolds, known as the third-largest aquatic plant learning center in the country.

In 2009, it was designated as a science experience learning site by the Chungbuk Office of Education and was registered as No. 10 of the Chungbuk Minjeong-gwangwon in 2024.
