A Friendship Getaway: 2 Days and 1 Night in Mukho, South Korea

A 2-day, 1-night trip to Mukho with my three best girlfriends...
Memorable moments included fresh Mulhoe (raw fish soup) at Seonchang Restaurant and browsing the quirky shops of Nongeoldam-gil.
It's already been three weeks since our Mukho adventure...
Finally getting around to sharing my review!
I heard Mukho is a trending solo travel destination these days.
We visited with friends on a friendship trip, and I'm excited to share all the details of our accommodation, delicious food, and perfect itinerary.
Boarding the KTX early in the morning for our Mukho trip.
We departed from Cheongnyangni Station at 9:45 AM and arrived in Mukho at 11:52 AM.
The weather was fantastic!
If you sit in seat A, you can enjoy stunning ocean views as you approach Jeongdongjin Station, just before arriving in Mukho.
Korea's East Sea is so beautiful, it rivals the Mediterranean! Absolutely gorgeous ✨
Gazing at the East Sea made the two-hour journey fly by.
Mukho favorites: Mulhoe at Seonchang Restaurant / exploring the souvenir shops on Nongeoldam-gil
Arrived at Mukho Station.
We took a taxi straight to our accommodation for the night, Seonchang Hostel, which is part of a횟집 (Hoe Restaurant).
The taxi ride from Mukho Station cost ₩5,500.
My friend booked this place since we wanted an affordable yet great value accommodation for one night. It was fantastic!
We stayed Sunday-Monday, and the largest room (a studio) was ₩170,000. And the view was incredible!
There are luggage lockers on the first floor (free, of course) where you can store your bags before check-in.
In the restaurant lobby on the first floor, you can freely enjoy ice and water from the dispenser.
We told them, "We're staying here tonight and came for lunch," and they directed us upstairs.
The restaurant was bustling, and they quickly seated us. Mukho Seonchang is a restaurant + accommodation with panoramic ocean views!
For lunch, we wanted something light, so we ordered Mulhoe and halibut sushi without 회 (Sashimi).
The view made it tempting to keep the 소주 (Soju) flowing, but we can't drink as much as we used to due to age ^_^, and we had a full day ahead, so we refrained.
Our lunch spread was impressive.
The girls were craving squid Mulhoe, but it was sold out, so we ordered two servings of live fish Mulhoe and halibut sushi instead.
I want to go back just to eat this again...
My friend insisted we try [Jijangsu Makgeolli] whenever we come to Gangwon-do, so we ordered a bottle.
It was delicious!
The Mulhoe and halibut sushi were both chewy, fresh, and delicious.
The side dishes were also good.
Our order came to ₩49,000 for three people, but later we noticed a sign saying that lodging guests get a ₩10,000 discount for orders over ₩50,000...
We should have ordered another bottle of Makgeolli ㅠ
Feeling full, we went out to enjoy the ocean right in front of us.
Maybe it was because of the heat, but a fish (likely a mackerel) was lying dead on the ocean floor ㅠㅠ
What happened...
After enjoying the ocean view, we walked towards Nongeoldam-gil.
Since it was so hot, we bought ice cream and continued our stroll.
Mukho Nongeoldam-gil is located roughly halfway between Mukho Station and our accommodation, Seonchang Hostel, making it easily walkable.
The problem was the intensely sunny weather...
It was too hot to walk comfortably.
We could see Dotjjaebi-gol Sky Valley on the way.
The story goes that phantom lights appeared near Mukho Port and startled ships, and this area became known as "Dotjjaebi-gol," meaning "goblin valley," because it was believed to be inhabited by goblins.
We passed by charming murals and began our ascent into Mukho's Nongeoldam-gil.
Note that it's a hill.
The weather is so nice… but it's hot…
But if you take your time and enjoy the scenery, it's worth it.
If I didn't have my parasol...
Just as you start thinking, "Wow, the view is amazing," you'll find the Muko Ya Gift Shop.
We followed the arrows.
Arrived at Muko Ya Gift Shop, located at the edge of the hill.
They sell many cute items.
I didn't visit many souvenir shops on this trip, but this was the second cutest place. Both the view and the souvenirs!
The souvenir shop view is so stunning...
Taking a proof shot that we came to Muko Ya ^.^
Adorable otter keyring
If you walk down a bit from Muko Ya Gift Shop, you'll find another unique souvenir shop.
Howl's Moving Castle St..
It's called Deungdaegeujip (Lighthouse House) souvenir shop.
Inside, there were many charming souvenirs, and the owner said he made the small breakwater model himself.
The owner is very quirky but friendly...
He's the type of person who might appear on a show like "What on Earth!"
After walking down, it was too hot, so we had to take a taxi back to the hostel...!
It took maybe two minutes haha.
After checking in and looking around the accommodation, we decided to go swimming at Eodal Beach, where the Eodal Beach food stalls are located.
The next installment will cover the Seonchang Hostel accommodation and our experience at Eodal Beach????????♀️
