A Foodie's Day Trip to Busan: From Mochi to Dumplings and Back Again

Arriving at Seoul Station in a daze, I spotted a crowd lined up in a swirling queue. It turned out they were selling freshly made *chapssaltteok* (sticky rice cakes).
People were buying them in unbelievable quantities. I hovered around, wondering if I should try a strawberry *chapssaltteok*. I joined the line, only to be told that a cold pack was essential unless I planned to eat it within 30 minutes... So, I ended up buying four!
Strawberry *Chapssaltteok* x2
Dubai *Chapssaltteok*
An-butter *Chapssaltteok*
I wasn't really interested in the Dubai *chapssaltteok*, but the people in front of me were all getting several, like six at a time. I wondered if the hidden gem here was the Dubai flavor?! I got swept up in the atmosphere and bought one. I guess this is what well-made Dubai chocolate tastes like.
The an-butter and strawberry *chapssaltteoks* were pretty much what I expected – the flavors we all know and love. Delicious!!!

Later, while searching for a cafe near Busan Station, I stumbled upon a place. I had been looking for a place with amazing bread. Then I saw 'Busandang'? Never heard of it before. I considered trying it, but there wasn't a single table available. (Busan locals don't buy bread from Busandang, everyone! lol)
Anyway, I went to ???? Brown Hands Baekje. It was originally Busan's first modern general hospital and over time, it was transformed into the cafe it is today.

It's a place with vintage charm. It's spacious and airy, and the sunlight streams through the windows, making it a great spot for reading or having a conversation.
I asked the owner about the coffee menu and got the subtle feeling that I was being subtly roasted... I wish they would remember that not everyone has a deep knowledge of coffee.
The coffee prices were quite high. I don't think I'll be back.
Struggling to decide what to have for lunch, I decided to eat in Busan Station's Chinatown.
I was lingering near a fried dumpling place, but the wait in the hot sun was just too much.
While looking for another restaurant without a wait, I decided to eat at Jangseonghyang, famous for its 'Old Boy Fried Dumplings'! (It filled up quickly though. Good timing! ????)

Fried Dumplings (Small) ₩9,000
Boiled Dumplings (Large) ₩12,000
I was surprised when the fried dumplings came out - they were the size of my palm! The filling was substantial and delicious.
The boiled dumplings took about 20 minutes to arrive!
There was quite a time gap, and by the time I ate the boiled dumplings, I was so full that I left some.
My score for Jangseonghyang?
- 3 / 5 -
The food is tasty, but...
Due to various factors, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
I live in Seoul but used to live in Busan.
Visiting Busan with the mindset of a tourist, I could feel the typical Busan gruffness.
Ah, Gyeongsang-do teachers -
Come to think of it,
Have I become a Seoul girl?
The problem was with me all along -

I made a reservation in advance and visited <Robata Tanyo>.
I made a phone reservation the day before, and immediately received a reservation confirmation KakaoTalk message through CatchTable!
* Dining time is limited to 2 hours *
I was looking for a place near Dongnae Station that was good for quiet conversation and had a cozy atmosphere.
Plus, the food had to be delicious.
That's how I ended up visiting Robata Tanyo ~
First, we ordered 2 highballs + 1 draft beer!
The highballs weren't strong, but they weren't too sweet either.
Just a basic highball flavor.

First of all, it's an open kitchen and it was very clean.
The prepared chicken was also spotless!
If you order the grilled chicken, they grill a whole chicken by the part, according to your dining speed.
The visual effect was great, too. ????
Plus, it was delicious...

Robata Tanyo's pollack roe cream pasta was really good.
You absolutely have to order this, and it sometimes sells out, so
Order this first... It's delicious.
Girlfriends will definitely love this flavor ????
We ordered additional short rib and pork neck, which were the most delicious.
While munching away, the 2 hours flew by.

Overall, the atmosphere was good.
The food was very delicious.
Everyone was kind and friendly, which was nice.
The 2-hour dining limit was a little bit of a bummer.
But all things considered, it was reasonable.
If the first floor of the house is used as the Robata Tanyo restaurant,
The bathroom is located separately in the yard.
It's a unisex bathroom, and it was really clean.
Overall, I was very satisfied.
I would like to visit again next time ????

Let's go to the second round near Robata Tanyo!
I looked for a place that wasn't too loud.
Following my younger sibling's recommendation that it had a good atmosphere and was delicious,
Let's go to HIBA!
<HIBA> lives up to its name, as there are a lo~t of different kinds of highballs.

Among them, my younger sibling's favorite highball is
'Pink Lychee Lemon Sawa Highball'
It was really sweet and delicious ㅠㅠ
My choice was 'Ume Highball'
I felt like it wouldn't be too sweet and would have a subtle plum fragrance
But the winner was the Pink Lychee Lemon Sawa Highball
It's really sweet and delicious

At <HIBA> in Dongnae, there's a large screen in the middle.
A baseball game was playing, but it wasn't too loud.
Most of all, the food was so delicious and the drinks were good, too.
It was a good place to talk, and the atmosphere was great!!
It wasn't so much about the 'alcohol' itself.
More like having a highball alongside conversation.
We sipped, laughed, cried, and chatted.

The yukhoe (raw beef) sashimi was really delicious...
I'll never forget the melon something...
The melon dish was so delicious.

On the way to my sibling's place ~~~
Let's have a snack party ~~~

The next day, we went to a place that was unbelievably delicious.
We had lunch, coffee, and dessert.
- I'll be back with Part 2 -
