A Day Trip to Jangseong: Exploring Beauty and Flavors

We planned a day trip to Jangseong.
To celebrate the 'Visit Jangseong Year 2025', the city is hosting various events for tourists.
We discussed what to do, where to go, and what to eat in Jangseong.
We looked for nice places to take a walk before and after meals.
We planned to visit Baegyangsa Temple and the Hwangnyonggang Ecological Park.
So, we applied for the 'Travel Expense Support' event.

2025.09.14. Sun.
Until yesterday, we were worried about rain, but the weather is good enough for a trip today.
It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Gwangju to Jangseong, so half a day is enough for a drive.
I've been to Jangseong often, but this time we decided to visit places we hadn't been to before.
Jangseong Restaurant: Watermelon & Pumpkin Cafe Restaurant
Considering it's the weekend, we made a reservation in advance.
It's easy to find, just past the entrance of Namyang Village and along a narrow alley.
We arrived right at the opening time.
It opens at 11 AM on weekdays and 11:30 AM on weekends, except for Tuesdays (regular holiday).

The pretty house seen between the green trees is 'Watermelon & Pumpkin Cafe Restaurant'.

Cute baby watermelons and five ugly brothers welcomed us.

The atmosphere is different from what it looks like from the outside.
Even the lighting seems to have been carefully placed.
The scenery seen through the large windows enriched my heart.
Also, I like that there is a variety of menu options.

Mushroom soup and bread served before meal is perfect for stimulating the appetite.
Escargots are hidden under the garlic bread, and when eaten on bread, the chewy and crispy textures harmonize well.
A glass of wine to celebrate my mother's birthday is on the house.

Shrimp Bacon Cream Pasta / Basil Tomato Pasta / Beef Short Ribs / Pork Cutlet
The ordered food came out one by one.
If the food is delicious, half of the trip is a success.
My favorite is 'Shrimp Bacon Cream Pasta'.
Rich cream sauce, chewy shrimp, and salty bacon.
It goes very well with linguine.

For dessert, there was refreshing grapefruit juice.
On a day when summer hadn't left yet, I felt a lot of refreshment.

Bye, kitty!
I'll come again!
Jangseong Attraction: Baegyangsa Temple
Baegyangsa Temple is a temple located on Baegam Mountain, founded by the monk Yeohwan in the 33rd year of King Mu of Baekje (632 AD).
The entire temple was swept away by a flood in the 1st year of King Gojong (1864) and was rebuilt behind the current Sanggyeru.

Walking along the forest path with lush trees and breathing in the fresh air makes my steps lighter.
If you park near the temple and walk for about 10 minutes, you will find a pond with Ssanggyeru.
The red spider lilies that are occasionally seen are called 'Baegyang flowers' here, and the appearance of them blooming among the green grass is quite beautiful.

Facing the Daewoongjeon, I feel at peace as the scenery of Baegam Mountain and the lush forest behind it create a masterpiece.
I pause for a moment in the serene atmosphere and take time to reflect on myself.
It is a gift that the temple gives me.

There is a small pond on the way back.
Colorful carp were swimming, each showing off their beauty.
(The tea house sells carp feed for 1,000 KRW.)

There was some time left until the next schedule, so I went to Cheonjinam.
Sweat beads form on my forehead.
Baegyangsa Temple is also famous for its temple stay program.
It is a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for meditation.

Jangseong Restaurant: Cafe Nubi
This trip was also planned to commemorate my mother's birthday.
I found a cafe with delicious cakes.

I passed through the well-kept garden and entered the cafe.
I carefully read the menu and ordered drinks that go well with the cake.

If you come out of the main building, there is an annex at the end of the outdoor passage.
We took a break here.

Americano / Iced Americano / Homemade Vanilla Bean Latte / Dark Chocolate Basque Cheesecake / Chestnut Tiramisu
Moderately sweet cake goes well with coffee.
I celebrated my mother's birthday in a small way.

This time is really precious to me.
Let's live happily and healthily like this in the future too.

Jangseong Attraction: Hwangnyonggang Ecological Park
Hwangnyonggang Ecological Park is a representative natural ecological tourist attraction in Jangseong, boasting various scenery in each season.

When we visited, it was not the festival season, so we could take a leisurely walk.
The promenade along the Hwangnyonggang River is well established.
It would be better to come in spring or fall when the flowers are in full bloom.

We crossed the bridge and went to the other side.
It was cloudy and eventually a few raindrops fell.
That's it for the walk.

The person who took the picture was a very wonderful person.
He really loved me a lot.
Me too.

My beloved family.
I wanted to capture and keep it in my camera because it looked so good on the way back from the walk.
It came out beautifully.

Jangseong Restaurant: Sandong Charcoal Ribs
The finish is meat.
It is a restaurant I found on the way back from Jangseong to Gwangju.

The store is spacious, so it's a good place for the whole family to come together.
I keep reaching out to the neatly arranged food.
There are a variety of delicious side dishes provided as standard.

Of course, the charcoal ribs I ordered as the main course are even more delicious.
It comes out fully cooked, but it is warmed up so that you can eat it warm until the end.

There is also a self-bar where you can take as much as you want to eat.
There are fresh vegetables and various side dishes that can be eaten with the meat.
I ate well and Jangseong trip is over.

Really happy trip-
