2026 Taean International Horticultural Therapy Expo

We can restore our physical, mental, and social health through nature, plants, and various gardening activities. This healing process utilizing such activities is called 'Horticultural Therapy.'
The <2026> event, where you can experience horticultural therapy firsthand, is being held in Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Last week, I visited the expo, and I would like to share information and highlights from the event.
- Address: 400, Ggotjihaean-ro, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do
There is a large parking lot in front of Gate 1 of the expo, making it convenient for visitors. Especially on weekends when there are many visitors, I recommend using the 'T-map' app on your smartphone. It allows you to easily check for available parking spaces through a real-time drone monitoring system. Parking is free, but a fee of 20,000 won applies for long-term parking beyond three days.
- Operating Hours: 9 AM to 6 PM (last entry at 5 PM)
- Admission Fee: Adults (19-64 years) 15,000 won, Youth (13-18 years) 12,000 won, Children (3-12 years) 9,000 won
Admission fees are based on adult pricing, with seniors aged 65 and over and veterans (grade 4 or below) able to enter for 13,000 won. Discounts are also available for Taean residents and people with disabilities. Those with severe disabilities (grades 1-3), national independence activists, and children under 2 can enter for free.
- Over 20 outdoor gardens are available
The 2026 Taean International Horticultural Therapy Expo presents a landscape reminiscent of a fairy tale flower kingdom. You can stroll among the colorful tulips and pansies and enjoy the peak of spring.
- Special Exhibition: The Healing Garden of the Gods
The most popular spot at the expo was the special exhibition, 'The Healing Garden of the Gods.' I waited about 10 minutes to enter. The moving flowers, butterfly wings, and flower decorations hanging from the ceiling create a magical atmosphere. Anyone can take stunning photos in this media art exhibition.
- Various Experiences
As you explore the exhibition hall, you can find various experiential programs. I tried the 'AI Flower Recommendation Booth' near Gate 1, where an AI program analyzes your pulse and breathing by taking a photo of your face and recommends flowers that match your current mood. I was recommended tulips for 'calmness.'
You can also enjoy a train experience near Gate 1 for 1,000 won per person, allowing you to comfortably explore the expo grounds. During the ride, the conductor provides information about the main facilities and attractions, which is helpful for planning your visit.
- Enjoyable Performances and Food Trucks
Different performances are held daily at the festival venue, including magic shows, singing contests, trot performances, puppet shows, and piano recitals. You can check the detailed schedule on the official website.
Some seats at the performance venue are table seats, allowing you to bring food from nearby food trucks and enjoy a delightful time for your eyes, ears, and taste buds.
- Food Courts (Ggotji Food Hall, Somi Food Hall, Haewon Food Hall)
There are three food courts at the 2026 Taean International Horticultural Therapy Expo. The 'Ggotji Food Hall' located between Gate 1 and the special exhibition offers Western-style dishes like pork cutlet and spaghetti. The 'Somi Food Hall' near the performance venue sells flower rice, fried rice, and snacks.
Adjacent to it, the 'Haewon Food Hall' operates a Korean buffet priced at 13,000 won for adults and 8,000 won for preschool children. Notably, it offers beautiful ocean views while you dine.
- Experience Hall: KidZania GO
If you're visiting with young children, don't miss the 'KidZania GO Experience Hall' located between the performance venue and the industrial hall. KidZania is a well-known theme park that helps children with career education and job experiences. It is available in Seoul and Busan, and you can experience it simply at this expo in Taean.
Experience programs run from 10 AM to 6 PM at about 20-minute intervals, with each session lasting approximately 15 minutes.
- Healing Agriculture Hall
The expo's theme is 'A Healthy Future Found in Nature, Horticulture and Healing,' with the slogan 'A Healing Time that Blooms Like Flowers.' The Healing Agriculture Hall was where I felt the meaning of this theme most profoundly. One of the most impressive experiences was touching the purple silkworms and larvae. It was a space where you can experience 'healing agriculture' and 'horticultural therapy' by engaging with nature.
- International Exchange Hall: 16 Countries' Fairy Tale Land
The International Exchange Hall near the exit gate features gardens inspired by six overseas fairy tales (The Little Match Girl, The Legend of the Black Tulip, The Bremen Town Musicians, The Tale of the Sun and Moon, and The Wizard of Oz) and showcases gardens and floral content from 16 countries, including Europe and Asia. Free guided tours are available every hour from 11 AM to 5 PM.
As the day slowly comes to an end, take a moment to cherish the most enjoyable moments with your loved ones. This trip, where nature, flowers, the sea, and sunsets blend together, will provide a special healing time for your weary body and mind.
