A Dive into Imagination: 'Cheongdam Pongdang' Exhibition at Hansot Art Space

I recently visited the group exhibition <Cheongdam Pongdang: A Special Imagination> at Hansot Art Space, located near Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Seoul. It was a delightful exhibition showcasing the vibrant and lively works of artists with developmental disabilities from Kimuus Studio.

Hansot Art Space is a gallery operated by Hansot Dosirak as part of their ESG management initiatives. I appreciated that it provides opportunities for the public to enjoy culture and for artists to showcase their work.
This particular exhibition, <Cheongdam Pongdang: A Special Imagination>, was a collaboration with Kimuus Studio to present the artwork of artists with developmental disabilities. It offered not only visual delight but also a heartwarming experience.
Upon entering, I was immediately drawn to the bright colors and unique paintings. The lively works, perfectly matching the cute and dynamic title 'Pongdang' (Splash), brightened my mood.
I visited during the Cheongdam Night event, which took place during Frieze Art Week. The party atmosphere included elaborate lighting, which made the artworks seem like LED pieces. (Please note that the lighting is not usually this elaborate!)
At this exhibition, Kimuus Studio presented their representative works alongside new, lesser-known pieces. As it was a global exhibition featuring international artists, it was enjoyable to appreciate each piece.
I particularly liked the adorable and vibrant works featuring animals, as well as the pieces that told stories and expressed a desire for 'togetherness'.
These were truly happy artworks that brought a smile to my face, making the entire experience delightful for both my eyes and my heart.
A way to feel happy right now.
Something else to look out for at <Cheongdam Pongdang: A Special Imagination> besides the paintings, were the 'poems'. The short texts written next to the titles of the artworks might be mistaken for descriptions (as I did!), but they were actually another form of art presented at this exhibition.
Poems written by another artist inspired by each painting.
I enjoyed these witty poems that complemented the cute paintings, as well as the poems that added narratives to the artwork, leaving a deep impression.
How diverse and unique! The word 'bubbly' or 'vibrant' couldn't be more fitting.
The works, with their childlike innocence and yet intricate details, their precision and regularity yet underlying wit, never ceased to amaze me.
In addition, the Cheongdam Night atmosphere, with its lighting and vegetable flower arrangements, perfectly complemented the exhibition and created a memorable experience.
Hansot Art Space's Kimuus Studio group exhibition <Cheongdam Pongdang: A Special Imagination> was a joyful experience for both the eyes and the heart. If you want to see works that will instantly lift your spirits, or if you're looking for things to do near Apgujeong Rodeo Station, I highly recommend visiting this exhibition.
