Explore Seoul's Iconic Landmarks Through the Lens of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' on a Bike

Hello, I'm UphillSeoNyeong.
'K-Pop Demon Hunters' (or 'K-De-Heon' for short) is an action-fantasy animation set against the backdrop of Seoul's most famous landmarks.
The series beautifully captures the harmony of tradition and modernity in Seoul, making these locations perfect for a quick stop and photo opportunity during your bike ride.
Recently, I took a Brompton bike tour from Namsan Tower to Gwanghwamun, Cheongwadae (the Blue House), and Buak Mountain. If you have time, I highly recommend visiting Bukchon Hanok Village and Naksan Park nearby.
1. Namsan Seoul Tower – An Iconic Point of K-De-Heon
Located at 105, Namsan Park Road, Jung-gu, Seoul, this is a quintessential photo spot offering a panoramic view of Seoul and one of 'K-De-Heon's' symbolic climax settings.
From the Namsan Tower Observatory, situated approximately 480m above sea level, you can witness the interplay of light and shadow across Seoul. During the day, you'll be treated to expansive views of the Han River and the cityscape, while at night, the city lights are simply breathtaking.
While it's a popular uphill cycling route, many runners are also frequenting the Namsan circular road for running.
2. Gwanghwamun Square – The Heart of Seoul
Address: Area of Sejong-daero, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Coming down from Namsan via Namdaemun, you'll immediately arrive at Gwanghwamun Square.
This central stage, showcasing Seoul's energy and tension, features the statues of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and King Sejong the Great side-by-side. It's a bit surprising it didn't make an appearance in 'K-De-Heon'!
Lively during the day, the square transforms into a futuristic space at night, thanks to its media art lighting.
Right in front of Gwanghwamun Square stands the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
A short walk towards Gwanghwamun from the Yi Sun-sin statue will bring you to the statue of King Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty (reigned 1418-1450).
Thank you, King Sejong, for creating 'Hangeul,' a UNESCO World Heritage!
In front of Gwanghwamun, there's a Haechi statue that resembles Duffy the Tiger, the most popular character in 'K-De-Heon.'
The Haechi is an imaginary animal from ancient East Asian legends, known for its ability to distinguish between right and wrong. The original term is said to be 'Haetae.'
Entering Hyojaro Road on the left side, facing Gwanghwamun, allows you to enjoy a traditional Korean landscape within the city.
On the way to Cheongwadae, look forward to the autumn foliage and the magnificent views of Buak Mountain.
3. Bukchon Hanok Village – Escape from Gwanghwamun to a World of Tradition
Address: 37, Gyedong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Just a short ride north from Gwanghwamun along Samcheongdong-gil, you'll find Bukchon Hanok Village, full of traditional charm.
Scenes depicting tranquility and mystery also appeared in the narrative of 'K-De-Heon.'
The sunlight shining through the tiled roofs and Hanok alleys, along with the distant view of city buildings, is the essence of 'Seoul-ness.'
4. Naksan Park – A Fantasy Landscape on Seoul's Fortress Wall Trail
Address: 41, Naksan-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Naksan Park, which connects east from Bukchon, is a backdrop that impressively expresses the contrast between dark and light scenes in 'K-De-Heon.'
During the day, you can see Dongdaemun and the city at a glance along the fortress wall trail, and at sunset, the city's sunset light pours over the park. It's a great spot to stop for a rest and take pictures during your ride.
To wrap up your ride, enjoy 'K-Chimaek' (Korean fried chicken and beer), something that foreigners admire and are enthusiastic about! Haha.
The Seoul locations in 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' are not just filming locations, but spaces where Seoul's past, present, and future coexist.
Connecting them by bike allows you to visit them all in one day, capturing completely different atmospheres at each location.
Especially during the fall to early winter, the combination of fallen leaves and lighting maximizes the 'K-De-Heon' atmosphere.
If you want to spend a movie-like day in the city, I highly recommend this course!
**The Korean flag patches are velcro attachable.
**Decorate your own Brompton bag.
**Use cooling/warming stem bags to keep items cool in the summer/warm in the winter.
