Discovering the Charm of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' and the Adorable 'Duffy'

Have you seen 'K-Pop Demon Hunters'?
I heard my friends say they enjoyed it about five hundred times. I was curious why kids were so enthusiastic about it, so I decided to watch it.
Hmm... the songs and visuals are certainly appealing to kids. They're quite vibrant!
The storyline of good triumphing over evil, a line that's often blurred these days, combined with the narrative of Jinwoo and Lumi's hatred, misunderstanding, and forgiveness, seems to have resonated deeply with children.
Among the many popular characters in the cartoon is "Duffy".
Doesn't its appearance seem familiar?
This character is inspired by "Hojakdo", a type of Korean folk painting featuring tigers and magpies.
There's a key point that makes this character so popular.

The cute part is the scene where it tries to put an overturned flower pot back up.
That's where kids got the impression that Duffy is a kind tiger.
This class will focus on drawing Duffy in the style of a folk painting!
We used kraft paper to express it like a folk painting.
And with Duffy is his partner, Seoshi (the magpie).

After drawing with a brush pen, we painted the blue Duffy using opaque gouache paints.
We used various pens to express Duffy's characteristics in detail.

We added a warm atmosphere to the overall painting by expressing the yellow moonlight with pastels, and that’s it!
The yellow color added warmth to the painting.
Adding yellow to the outside of Duffy to better express the moonlight shining behind him gave the painting a deeper sense of space.

Duffy has even appeared in my house and the hamster's house!
We used warm lighting indoors to express the color yellow.
When drawing, it's very important to draw images that you like.
This is because it increases interest, and interest is deeply related to consistency.
When pleasant memories accumulate, you enjoy the process and gain the power to continue steadily.

Want to improve your drawing skills? Then start by drawing what you like the most!
Just like these children!
Being happy has more power than working hard.
Because if you enjoy it, it's not difficult and you can finish it quickly!
