A Spontaneous Trip to Seoraksan Mountain with Mom

It's been a while since I last wrote a blog post. I came across a draft from last October about a trip to Seoraksan Mountain that I never finished, so I thought I'd pick it up again.
Thanks to my mountain-loving mom, we ended up going on a 2-day, no-sleep trip to Seoraksan. To be honest, I really didn't want to go at first (and I wouldn't go again if you asked me to!), but looking back, it was a great memory!
Traveling from Daegu to Seoraksan isn't easy, so we went through the KJ Mountaineering Club in Daegu! It cost ₩60,000 per person, which included transportation to the destination and a guide, which made me feel secure. Of course, we didn't hike up the mountain together, but it was great to be able to ask questions and get advice from someone with a lot of experience hiking Seoraksan.
We were given a guidebook and a bag tag on the bus. On the way down, my mom and I were so exhausted that we weren't even talking. Then someone who was there for another KJ event recognized us and said, "You're with KJ!" He told us he was on his third trip to Seoraksan and shared some stories. He even took pictures of my mom and me! It felt good to be part of something.
Before entering the mountain, we parked in an empty parking lot, where they served us a meal. My extroverted mom volunteered to help with the serving...
That day, it was drizzling in the early morning, so we started hiking through the rain and darkness. My headlamp battery died on the way up, so I had to turn on my phone's flashlight. Mom... I told you to buy a new one!
Luckily, it didn't take as long as I thought to get from Osaek to Daecheongbong Peak, and it started to get brighter as we approached the summit! We even managed to take a photo with the Daecheongbong Peak sign, which my mom had been begging for!
Since it didn't take too long to reach Daecheongbong Peak, I thought the rest of the hike would be easy... I was so wrong!
Protecting my mom's and my privacy -
Even though it was early October, there were still some fall colors left! Unlike me, who doesn't really care about the changing seasons, my mom loves them. She kept telling me to take pictures of the remaining foliage. She even offered to take pictures for other hikers who were passing by... my mom is so cute!

I think this was the Socheong Shelter where we took a short break. We met some really cool people here.
At the shelter, people usually rest or eat. But this group of people, who seemed to have come as a group, had brought meat... I almost asked for a piece, but I barely managed to maintain my composure.
So, the next day, I went to Burim Wangsogeumgui (a Korean BBQ restaurant). Hehe.
Things got really tough from Socheong onward... I wonder if it was because of the meat.

After seeing Bongjeongam Temple, which was my mom's second goal, the descent felt relatively relaxed. My mom kept telling me to take pictures of the tree on the rock, the magnificent cliffs, and the fallen leaves floating on the water... she's so youthful.

(We all took individual pictures in front of it)
We were so relaxed that we almost missed the bus. We rushed down the rest of the way, so I didn't take many pictures.
Look at this shaky photo... hahaha. We didn't even get to go inside Baekdamsa Temple. We just took a bus from the Baekdamsa Temple bus stop to the parking lot where the KJ bus was waiting!
Thanks to our hurry, we got down earlier than expected. We ate bibimbap at a restaurant near the parking lot and completely destroyed my legs. That's how the Seoraksan hike ended.
My watch died around 2 PM, but the sad truth is that my hike continued until 5 PM.

Even though Seoraksan takes a long time, it was less tiring than Hallasan.
Even though it was an event from a year ago, it was a hike that will be a lasting memory!!
