A Phytoncide-Rich Nature Trip: Gyeongju Cypress Forest Scent Trail

A Nature Trip Filled with Phytoncides
Gyeongju Cypress Forest Scent Trail
Today, I visited the Cypress Forest Scent Trail, located in Geoncheon-eup, Gyeongju.
While driving, if you see a sign that says "Danseoksan Trekking Trail Cypress Forest," turn left.
There is parking space for about 2-3 cars at the entrance of the Cypress Forest Scent Trail.
However, the road up is narrow, so it's better to park below.
You will see the entrance to the Cypress Forest Scent Trail.
The path is made of deck stairs.
There is a separate hiking trail on the left.
I started climbing the deck stairs.
The benefits of phytoncides include stress relief, increased immune function, broad antibacterial and deodorizing effects, improved allergies and skin conditions, and enhanced concentration and learning ability.
As you go up the deck path, there is a fork in the road.
There is a path going up and a path on the right.
The two paths connect into one, so you can think of it as a loop.
The trail consists of a deck walkway, deck stairs, and coconut fiber mats.
I went up the upper path.
Going up, you will find a pavilion.
There are books in the pavilion.
The Cypress Forest Scent Trail is a path for healing, so it's a good idea to take a break and read a book.
Cypress trees have excellent antibacterial and sterilizing properties, so they are widely used in wellness products.
Cypress trees contain a lot of phytoncides, a natural antibacterial substance, which makes them excellent for sterilization.
What are phytoncides?
They are volatile substances that trees and plants produce and emit to resist pests or fungi. When you go to a lush forest, you smell a refreshing scent unique to the forest, and this is called phytoncide.
Walking along the lush forest path, you will find benches in various places where you can take a rest.
About halfway between the upper flat path and the downhill path, there are separate "Cypress Forest Circular Route" and "Hiking Trail" paths.
10,000 cypress trees have been planted here, and the forest is about 50 years old.
The Cypress Forest Scent Trail has a wonderful lush forest on a straight path.
It consists of uphill, downhill, and flat (coconut fiber mat) paths.
Except for the uphill path, there are no difficult sections.
As you walk, you will find a second pavilion.
It's a good idea to take a break here as well.
It will take about 15 to 20 minutes.
If you take your time and walk slowly, the subtle scent of cypress will spread, making your heart feel at ease.
Blow away the stress of everyday life and visit the Cypress Forest Scent Trail, which is full of phytoncides.
