Experience the Enchanting Nighttime Beauty of Seoul's Palaces

Have you ever had the chance to enjoy the stunning palaces of Seoul illuminated at night?
Recently, the nighttime openings of these historical palaces have become a major attraction.
I had the opportunity to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace during one of its nighttime openings, and the sight of the palace bathed in soft light was truly romantic.
These palaces are places where you can truly feel the beauty of Korea, and they hold a special charm, especially when visited at night.
Today, we'll delve into the details of the nighttime openings of three remarkable palaces.
Located in the heart of Seoul, you can easily visit three classic palaces: Deoksugung, Gyeongbokgung, and Changgyeonggung.
All three palaces are conveniently located near public transportation, making them easily accessible.
Deoksugung Palace is just a 5-minute walk from City Hall Station. Gyeongbokgung Palace is right outside Exit 5 of Gyeongbokgung Station, where the palace entrance is immediately visible.
Changgyeonggung Palace is near Hyehwa Station, allowing you to explore the Daehakro area as well.
Personally, I found all three palaces very convenient to visit without a car, as they are all connected to subway lines. Plus, with many cafes and restaurants nearby, there's plenty to enjoy around the palaces, making it perfect for a day trip!

Unique Features and Charms of Each Palace
Each palace has its own distinct charm. Deoksugung Palace harmoniously blends modern architecture with traditional buildings, particularly with the beautifully illuminated Seokjojeon Palace at night.
The softly glowing lights created a truly warm and tranquil atmosphere. It felt as if time had slowed down, and everything seemed to move at a more leisurely pace.
On the other hand, Gyeongbokgung Palace is a place that truly embodies the word 'grandeur.' It exuded a sense of both splendor and elegance, and its vastness was awe-inspiring.
Changgyeonggung Palace has a stronger sense of harmony with nature and is particularly beautiful in spring or autumn. Its tranquil atmosphere allows you to enjoy the beautiful gardens and spend a relaxing time.
Enjoying the night view in this quiet and peaceful atmosphere is truly an unforgettable experience.
Since each palace has a completely different atmosphere, visiting all three is a must!
Experiencing it firsthand is much more impactful than simply hearing about it.
The words "leisure" and "a coexistence of modernity and history" perfectly capture the essence of these places, and I felt fortunate to be able to enjoy such moments in the heart of Seoul.

Important Things to Note When Visiting
Since Gyeongbokgung Palace is quite large, it's helpful to have a general idea of the route you'll take after entering. Changgyeonggung Palace offers excellent guided tours, so checking the schedule in advance can make the experience even more enjoyable.
One particularly unique aspect of Deoksugung Palace is the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, where you can enjoy both a palace tour and modern art at the same time.
Here are some important things to keep in mind when visiting any of the palaces:
● Reservations are Essential!
Reservations are a must due to the palaces' popularity.
● No Flash Photography!
Please maintain a quiet atmosphere inside the palaces and refrain from using flash when taking photos.
● What to Bring for Nighttime Viewing
Comfortable shoes, warm clothing, and a camera are essential! It's best to dress warmly, as the temperature drops at night.
● Check Opening Hours
Be sure to check the closing times of each palace in advance.
● Free Admission in Hanbok
Free admission is available if you visit wearing Hanbok, so consider renting one!

The charm of Deoksugung, Gyeongbokgung, and Changgyeonggung lies in the sense of leisure you can experience within their unique atmospheres.
In particular, the nighttime view of Deoksugung Palace is a special experience that I highly recommend. Gyeongbokgung and Changgyeonggung also offer unique healing spaces that are well worth a visit.
Be sure to enjoy the leisure and tranquility of these historical spaces. I hope you enjoyed this review of the nighttime openings of Deoksugung, Gyeongbokgung, and Changgyeonggung Palaces.
