Discover Goseong-gun: Three Must-Visit Attractions

Hello!
Welcome to Sooe's Journey Through Life.
If you're planning a trip to Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do,
here are three attractions you absolutely shouldn't miss.
Starting near Ayajin Beach with
Cheongganjeong Pavilion, head north to
visit Cheonhakjeong Pavilion and the Geological Park (Neungpadae).
This makes for a great route.

Cheongganjeong Pavilion
Location: 5110, Donghae-daero, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do
Parking: Free
One of the Eight Scenic Views of Goseong,
Cheongganjeong is a pavilion located
on the coast in Cheonggan-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun.
From atop the unique rock cliffs,
you can overlook the East Sea
where endless waves crash.
Its beautiful scenery has long made it
one of the most renowned
of the Eight Scenic Views of Gwandong.
When we arrived on a weekday,
it wasn't crowded, and there was plenty of
space in the parking lot.
The entrance features an information center
and an octagonal pavilion –
neatly built hanok (traditional Korean house) structures related to tourism.
At the entrance to Cheongganjeong,
you'll find a stone staircase next to a sign
explaining the history of Cheongganjeong.
Soon, you'll encounter
the towering pavilion –
Cheongganjeong.
Looking out at the East Sea from Cheongganjeong,
you'll understand why poets of the past
frequented this place.
I even felt inspired to write a poem! :)
(Believe it or not! haha)
The East Sea seen from Cheongganjeong
The jade-green waves of the East Sea
blended so perfectly, it was like a painting.
Capturing it in photos
to soothe my regret,
we head to another one of the Eight Scenic Views of Goseong:
Cheonhakjeong Pavilion.

Cheonhakjeong Pavilion
Location: 10, Cheonhakjeong-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do
Parking: No specific parking facilities.
Another of Goseong's Eight Scenic Views,
Cheonhakjeong is located in
Gyori, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do.
It sits atop a coastal cliff
north of Songjiho Beach.
Cheonhakjeong is a lesser-known sunrise spot,
where the sunrise over the rugged cliffs surrounded by pine trees
is said to be breathtaking. Unfortunately,
it rained the day we went.
Cheonhakjeong Name Origin
Built atop bizarre rocks and steep
coastal cliffs, it's a place of
great natural beauty.
Facing Cheongganjeong and Baekdo Island to the south,
with Neungpadae nearby to the north,
it's a place that adds to the beauty.
The pavilion is called Cheonhakjeong because it's said that
the pavilion is reflected in the mirror of the sky and earth.
The East Sea and beach spreading out below
the pavilion are incredibly beautiful.
Just a short walk up from the roadside entrance,
you'll see a small pavilion –
that's Cheonhakjeong.
Finding the shapes of the rock formations
in the rocks in front of Cheonhakjeong
can be a fun experience.
Although we couldn't see the sunrise due to the rain,
we enjoyed the magnificent scenery
of the East Sea and the beach from Cheonhakjeong.
And now another destination, Go to the Geological Park~~

National Geopark (Neungpadae)
Location: 65, Kwaejin-gil, Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do
Parking: Free
The Gangwon-do National Geopark
spans across the entire Goseong-gun area.
Among the various geological attractions, including
the coastal cliffs around Cheongganjeong and Cheonhakjeong, Hwaamsa Temple, and Geonbongsa Temple,
the place I'll introduce this time
is Neungpadae, well-known as a BTS album filming location.
Although there was space in the parking lot along the road in front of Neungpadae,
a large number of tourists were visiting
even on a rainy day.
A natural rock formation located on the coast
in Cheonggan-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do.
Walking up the deck path along
the stairs installed toward the rocky hill
that meets the waves of the East Sea,
The sound of the waves and the rocks
creates a refreshing experience for our hearts.
Origin of Neungpadae
The word "Neungpa" (凌波)
means "to move through the waves."
It reflects the geographical characteristic
of being able to closely observe
the strong currents of the East Sea.
The name Neungpadae became known
from a poem left by Yi Gok (李穀), a writer
of the Goryeo Dynasty, who toured this place.
Let's wrap up this enjoyable trip
by capturing some photos among the magnificent rocks
of the Goseong-gun Geopark in Gangwon-do!
Today, I introduced Cheongganjeong, Cheonhakjeong,
and the Neungpadae National Geopark
as places to visit
for those planning a trip to Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do!
