My Experience at the 2025 Seoul Disney Run

I was lucky enough to win a spot in the 2025 Seoul Disney Run and even received the commemorative merchandise package. Finally, the day I had been waiting for arrived!
Since I had to travel from out of town, I came up the day before and stayed at a hotel in Yeongdeungpo before participating. (Was that passionate or what?)
It rained a lot from the day before until dawn, so I prepared a raincoat and was really worried. Fortunately, the rain stopped before the run started.
(Apparently, the event proceeds unless there's a typhoon warning or heavy rain advisory.)
Around 7:20 AM, I headed to Yeouido Culture Park.
The 10km start time was 08:00 - 08:35 (no start allowed after 8:35), and the 3km start time was 08:45 - 08:50 (no start allowed after 8:50).
As I walked from Yeouido Station to the park, I saw a massive crowd across the street...
With 15,000 participants, it was bound to be huge!
(My husband said it seemed like the largest marathon he's ever participated in!)
They said stretching would start at the main stage from 7:30 AM, but I didn't go to the main stage and waited at the starting point instead.
(It was chaotic with so many people, and there were a lot of umbrellas because it was raining.)
Somewhat ironically, there were a total of 6 groups (5 for 10km and 1 for 3km), but there weren't any staff members to guide us...
Maybe I just didn't see them, but there were no signs indicating where to go, where the baggage storage was, or where to wait. Most people seemed confused.
I wonder if it's because it was the first event.....
Anyway, as the 10km groups departed one by one, I waited right next to the starting line wearing my raincoat, hoping for the rain to stop.
The rain finally stopped after the last 10km group left!
I took off my raincoat and waited at the starting line.
The hosts were very enthusiastic and cheered us on, which made the wait enjoyable.
The 3km race started right at 8:45 AM!
My husband found me and took a picture right before the start. Then, he waited alone for 20 minutes. (He wasn't selected, so he was just a running guardian...)
I ran hard and arrived at the finish line. I finished in about 19 minutes, which was a minute faster than I had practiced.
(I ran as fast as I could at the end, but he didn't capture that moment? Husband!)
I ran while dodging people like obstacles, but it was a fun experience!
And then... after crossing the FINISH line, there weren't any staff members again! I was at a loss as to where to go to receive my medal.
I wondered if it was supposed to be like this...
There were many runners wandering around aimlessly... I eventually lined up where I saw others lining up and received my medal and goodies... They gave quite a handful!
There were many booths, and it seemed like there were lots of freebies if you participated.
But... the lines were so, so long that I gave up on everything and just took a picture in the Zootopia zone.
Another absurd thing was that I received a text message about photo time sign-ups a few days before the run.
Nick & Judy (2 sessions), Mickey & Minnie (2 sessions). A total of 4 sessions, with only 60 people allowed per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
Seriously? Only 240 people out of 15,000 could participate? I gave up.
A picture in front of the main stage!
(The promotion for the Zootopia movie, which is scheduled to be released in November, was massive.)
Ta-da! This is the 3km medal.
A Zootopia medal!
It's so cute. Isn't this why everyone ran?
I didn't wait at any of the booths and came back right away.
A bunch of snacks I received with the medal. I'm satisfied...
There were too many people, and the event management was a bit disappointing.
And there was absolutely nothing Disney-related during the run.
The Disney Run!
(I thought there would be Disney characters along the route since it was a Disney Run.)
Still, it was fun to see the awesome cosplayers along the way, and I was proud to have been selected to run!
I'm not sure if I'll apply again next year.
Maybe I'll try a different marathon...
Kudos to everyone who ran together! My honest review of the Disney Run Seoul 2025 is over.
