Hello, this is Chilgok, a city of culture.
At the 'Chilgok Cultural City Traveler Center,' created as part of the Cultural City Project,
Every Wednesday and Saturday from April to November,
We operate various cultural programs where residents can communicate and learn together!
On October 29th, the forty-sixth class, 〈Hand Embroidery String Bag Class〉, was held!

French embroidery is a type of embroidery that uses thread to sew onto fabric,
It is a handicraft that creates various forms of decoration!
In this class, we embroidered string bags.
The hand embroidery string bag class was conducted by instructor Kwon Mi-ok, who runs a workshop in Chilgok!
First, we looked at the shape of the embroidery to be placed and chose the desired thread.
The embroidery that the participants tried was a cute flower shape.
We used the fly stitch technique to create the stems first.
Fly stitch is a shape that makes a Y and goes down, down,
I practiced the technique by embroidering on practice fabric.
Once you get the hang of the technique, embroider the bag as you practiced.
Shaping straight lines and curves in various ways as desired
We created various forms of stems.
Once the stem expression is complete, it is time to express the flowers with the desired color thread.
I used French knot stitch for the flower.
If you put a needle at the end of the stem and wrap the thread twice, you can create a cute seed-like flower.
I also expressed small leaves!
Lazy daisy stitch was used for the leaves!
This method is usually used when making flowers or petals.
Lastly, as much as I worked hard to embroider, I attached a handmade label.
I tried to emphasize that I made it myself even more.
