Chilgok Resident Docent Training Academy: Nurturing Voices for Culture and Art

A learning space is opening in Chilgok to foster voices that can share the culture and art of the region with residents through listening, seeing, and conveying. The Chilgok Culture & Tourism Foundation is running the 'Resident Docent Training Academy' to help locals become more familiar with art, grow as active participants in cultural events, and serve as docents (exhibition guides) for Chilgok's cultural and artistic events. This program offers a systematic curriculum designed to enhance understanding of art and interpretive skills, providing residents with the opportunity to discover the value of local culture and share it confidently. Furthermore, it aims to strengthen the cultural power of the local community by fostering communication and collaboration among neighbors through the medium of culture and art.
Recruiting Participants for the Resident Docent Training Academy
The 'Resident Docent Training Academy' is recruiting participants aged 20 or older who reside in Chilgok, offering practical, field-oriented education to help them grow into docents for cultural and artistic events. Applications were accepted from August 20th (Wed) to September 3rd (Wed), 2025, for about two weeks, and 15 participants who met the eligibility requirements were selected. The program begins with a basic course consisting of four sessions from September 6th to September 27th, covering essential docent skills, interpretive techniques, and scriptwriting. On October 25th, a field trip to the Daegu Art Museum provided hands-on experience through meetings with docents. Finally, from November 1st to November 22nd, rehearsals will be held in preparation for the Transmedia Festival. Participants will then showcase their learning by participating as docents at the Transmedia Festival exhibition, which will be held at the end of November.
