Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Liberation Day at the Independence Hall of Korea

Hello!
This is Han-eol from the Independence Hall of Korea.
Liberation Day, celebrated on August 15th, commemorates the day in 1945
when Korea was liberated from Japanese colonial rule.
It also marks the establishment of the Republic of Korea government on August 15th, 1948,
making it a truly meaningful day.
Therefore, Liberation Day holds two significant meanings:
‘Liberation’ and ‘Establishment of the Government.’
This past August 15th, the Independence Hall of Korea hosted ‘Light of the Nation,’
a variety of cultural events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.
For those who couldn't visit us in person,
today, we'd like to share the scenes and touching moments
from Liberation Day with photos.
Come and feel the passion and emotion of that day!
Despite the scorching sun, heat, and occasional showers,
many people visited the Independence Hall to commemorate
the 80th Anniversary of Liberation Day.
Numerous visitors joined us at the Independence Hall to reflect on the meaning of liberation
and participate in the various events.
The 80th Anniversary of Liberation Day celebration, ‘Light of the Nation,’
commemorating the restoration of our nation, was held throughout the grounds
of the Independence Hall of Korea's 'House of the Nation'.
From the event announcing the start of the celebration to the Air Force's
Black Eagles aerobatic display and K-pop band performances,
diverse performances and interactive programs unfolded, allowing us
to reflect on the spirit of independence and the meaning of liberation.
The 80th Anniversary of Liberation Day Commemoration Ceremony
began at 10 AM at the Independence Hall of Korea's 'House of the Nation'
with the singing of the national anthem and a moment of silence to honor the patriotic martyrs.
This was followed by various celebratory segments to commemorate the meaning of Liberation Day.
The Liberation Day song echoed throughout the Independence Hall of Korea's 'House of the Nation',
where the commemoration ceremony was held. Attendees reflected on the moment of liberation and its glory,
and vigorously shouted 'Long Live Korean Independence' three times.
In the first part of the Liberation Day Cultural Event,
starting at 11 AM, the Air Force's Black Eagles aerobatic team
put on a spectacular airshow above the Independence Hall of Korea.
The Black Eagles' overwhelming flying skills
and fantastic performance heightened the atmosphere,
drawing gasps from the audience.
The Black Eagles' dazzling airshow always inspires awe.
The performance by the Army Honor Guard was also truly impressive.
Each precise movement reflected the pride of the soldiers and the results of years of training.
Thanks to their disciplined performance, the meaning of Liberation Day felt even more profound.
Every time I see such performances, I deeply feel the professionalism of the military
and their spirit of sacrifice for the nation.
The performance by pianist Paik Hae-sun, held outdoors at the Independence Hall,
offered artistic inspiration and emotion in itself.
The music resonating from her delicate fingertips, in harmony with
the historical moment, deepened the meaning of Liberation Day.
Amidst the harmony of nature's sounds and piano melodies,
it was a performance that left a profound impression on everyone's heart.

On the Part 2 stage, various bands such as Seo Ju-yeon Band, Taste Shop,
and Lucy captivated the audience with their unique charms.
Thanks to their passionate performances, the atmosphere at the venue
became even more heated.
Due to rain during the event,
the Taekwondo demonstration performance, originally scheduled to take place in the 'Great Yard of the Nation,'
was rescheduled to be the last part of the event and was held indoors at the 'House of the Nation'.
Despite the confined space, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation
athletes showcased the beauty and energy of Taekwondo with
intense concentration and flawless movements, leaving a truly
impressive performance.
The moving stage, where tradition and modern sensibilities
of Taekwondo were harmonized, marked the finale of the event.
The athletes' professionalism, combined with the audience's enthusiastic cheers
and applause, filled their passion even further.
